Chapter two

Ember POV
I sit on my front porch waiting like I have been for days. I kick the rocks next to my shoes and watch them role. Just as I think it's never going to come I see a small brown owl flying towards me. I immediately jump up and stretch my arms out to catch it. I carefully open the knot that holds a letter to the Owls right foot. It's finally here. The owl starts pecking my arm annoyed so I give it some treats and let it fly away. I run inside and start shouting "IT'S HERE IT'S HERE IT'S HERE!!!! MUMMY IT FINALLY CAME!!!" I hear a door opening from upstairs . "Shut up!" My brother , Lucius, shouts. "It's not like I didn't get I or something" I frown at his room upstairs although I know he can't see it. " Oh that's lovely honey! We can buy you a wand and everything else you need tomorrow" I hear my mum shouting from the kitchen. I open the letter just to be sure it really is my acceptance letter and not a letter expelling my brother from school, although I don't know about which I would be happier. That night I sleep so well that I can't remember the last time I've slept that well. The next morning I'm up and awake really early. As soon as my mum, dad and brother are awake too, I start running around the house and screaming "I'M GOING TO DIAGON ALLY" I have obviously heard tons of it but I was never allowed to go there before. My dad is making a fire in the fireplace and Lucius is getting some floo powder from the cupboard in the kitchen that I'm not allowed to touch. I get a glimpse of different coloured potions and jars in the cupboard before Lucius slams the door shut and smirks at me. I turn my back to him and walk in the living room. The fire is already burning with bright red flames. "Remember Ember, darling to stay calm. You know how floo powder works. You just throw it in and say your destination. " my dad explains "Yes, yes dad I know" I say in a matter of fact voice. My mum goes first. She takes a little of the bright green dust and throws it into the fire. It turns bright green. She jumps in and says "Diagon Alley" whoosh. She's gone. Lucius hands me the jar and I take a little of the dust between my fingers. I walk over to the fireplace and throw it in. The fire once again turns green. "Scared?" Lucius asks me. "No" I say confidentially. I carefully step into the fire. I am surprised by how cold it feels as it brushes against my skin. "Diagon Alley" I say slowly. Suddenly it feels like my body is being torn apart and squeezed at the same time. And before I can scream I land in another fireplace. I quickly step out of it. "Well done" my mom says in an reassuring tone. I smile weakly at her. I'm still a little shaky when Lucius and my dad arrive. "Oh! Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy! How nice to see you again!" I hear a voice saying and I immediately turn around to see a tall man maybe a little older than my father standing casually. "And you too Lucius! You must be Ember, am I right?" He says and looks from Lucius to me. "Yes" I squeak. "Ahh Mr. Timberley!" My father says enthusiastic. "Honey, this is Mr. Timberley. He is a college of mine at the ministry" my dad says to me. "Nice to meet you, sir" I say trying to sound as grown up as I can. He gives me a nod in return. "Whilst you two catch up, Lucius, Ember and I are going to get their stuff for the school year" my mom says. "Yes of course. It was nice meeting you" Mr. Timberley says and tilts his big black cylinder hat. As we walk along the street I can't stop staring at different things. I've never seen this many wizards at one spot before! I start staring at a shop with candies of all different flavours. Oh how much I would give to taste those, but we don't have time to stop. As I stare I bump into a tall girl with brown hair and hazel eyes. "Watch out were you walk!" I spit at her like have been taught. "You filthy half-breed!" I quickly add because I know this is what my father would have said. She gasps and steps back from me. "What he your language cousin" her mother frowns at me. But before I answer my mom comes in. "Oh hello Andromeda" my mother says clearly unpleased to see her. She grabs my arm and pulls me away. "Don't bother to spend time with those" my mom says annoyed. We go into lots of different stores where my mom picks all my stuff for the school year, but I can't help feeling guilty for what I said to the girl. Time flies as we buy our stuff for school and before know it, I'm back at home.
