Shehzad followed Aarav to the patient's room to meet Riya. A nurse had informed them that she had gone to check on her friend immediately upon arriving.
He didn't know how or what it would take to negotiate with the foreigner, all he knew was that he never felt more relieved in his life than he did when Aarav said she will survive. Those three words soothed his wounds better than anything ever could. Atleast he's not a murderer, he sighed in relief.
As soon as he pushed the door open, it was banged shut on his face with so much force, he would lose his fingers if he hadn't pulled back his hand in time.
"Knock before you enter, filthy man!", a voice yelled and he was taken aback. He couldn't remember being yelled at, let alone being called by derogatory names.
What happened to hospital ettiqutes, he was about to yell and ask her when Aarav dragged him back."Shutup!", he hissed. "If you create one more problem tonight, I swear I will drag your stupid ass to jail."
"Don't forget you work for me", Shehzad defended himself.
"Unfortunately", Aarav grumbled and knocked on the door softly.
Deciding it was wise to stay quiet, Shehzad peeked through the glass window on the door. He saw a girl pull out a scarf and drape it around the patient's head .
The patient's face was obstructed from his view but he guessed they were made to stand outside because she practised the hijab.
********************"I will see to it that your boss rots in jail for this", a familiar voice spoke.
"Riya, please....."
"Shutup!", she interrupted.Wardah tried to open her eyes but her eyelids felt too heavy.
She tried calling out but her throat was too parched to produce any sound.
With great difficulty, she managed to open her eyes and spotted three people in the room. The familiar voice belonged to Riya who looked like she could tear the two men apart just with her eyes and words."You have the audacity to talk of a negotiation, that too with me!", she yelled at a man, who looked scared of her by now.
"Try to understand. We cannot..."
"Understand? That arrogant sickhead tried to kill her! Do YOU understand that?"
"She's awake! She's moving!".
She finally managed to catch the attention of the man in the corner after five minutes."Wardah! Sweety, Oh my god! Thank god! You scared me. Are you feeling okay?", Riya gushed, kissing, hugging and talking all at once.
"Water", she managed to croak with a weak smile.
The other man, who was next to the jug poured some water and rushed to offer her. Riya snatched the glass from his hand, shooting him an angry look."Don't you worry, girl. That pig will be punished for what he has done to you", she assured, helping Wardah to drink water.
"Look who is awake!", Dr Mehra exclaimed entering the room. "Thanks Shehzad for informing me that she's awake. And you, Wardah!", he smiled at her, "you are a star. I've never seen someone recover so quickly. It'll take a while to be able to use your legs. But then again, knowing you I wouldn't be surprised if it takes only a week", he patted her head and she gave him a warm smile.
"Thank you, doctor", she liked him immediately.Once Dr Mehra left the room after examining her and instructing the nurse to get medicines, Shehzad watched as Riya helped her sit and placed pillows behind her for support.
Wardah. He had heard that name for the first time. It felt delicate on the lips, just like her. Even with a pale face, dried lips and tired eyes, her face had a sort of delicateness that made him feel worser than before for hurting her. A few strands of dark brown hair peeked from under her scarf. She looked between Aarav and Riya who were in an intense brawl, ready to get at each other's necks if not stopped.
