A few hours after their discussion, Wardah was allowed to go home. On Shehzad's request, a nurse from the hospital was arranged to accompany Wardah and stay with her until she was fine.
Since his car was splattered with blood, Aarav had sent it to the service centre discreetly, and the driver was supposed to drop Shehzad and Wardah to his farmhouse.
It took a while to convince Wardah to stay at his place but she finally agreed when they assured her that she would be given full privacy.
It's against my morals to stay with a random male under the same roof, her words resonated in his ears.
Women were ready to let go of all morals and values to be with him and here she was, reducing his status to a 'random male'. Every minute spent with her was leaving him bewildered. He could have sworn she was putting up a fake act but he could find out who's acting and who's not just as well as he could act. That sincere face and those eyes couldn't be lieing, he didn't know if this was his rational brain deciding or the bewildered and awe-struck brain. But that was his final decision.
"You both go ahead. Riya and me will stop by Wardah's place and get her stuff", Aarav told Shehzad as they made their way to the car from a back door in the supplies room of the hospital. Someone had spotted Shehzad's car in the hospital's parking lot and tipped the news channels. The hospital security had cleared them away dismissing the whole thing as a rumour, but they couldn't take any chances with the paparazzi.
They reached two black Audis and Shehzad ushered the nurse to the one where Mahesh was waiting with an open door.
"Sahab, I was so worried. Thank God, you're okay", he greeted with a relieved smile as soon as Shehzad reached the car.
He nodded in return and bent down to lift Wardah from the wheelchair since she couldn't sit inside on her own."Let the nurse do it", Wardah spoke quickly before he could lift her. He mentally slapped himself for forgetting that a male wasn't allowed to touch her and making a fool out of himself in front of a driver and a nurse.
Mala, her nurse placed her hand behind her neck and under her thighs to lift her.
"Aaahh!", Wardah winced. Mala wasn't strong enough to lift her and ended up hurting her leg.
Shehzad shoved her away quickly and lifted her from the wheelchair."Shhushhh", he spoke as soon as she opened her mouth to protest, " Im not letting that leg hurt again."
"But, it is against my....", Wardah tried to explain and was interrupted again.
"Against your religion, I know.
Hey God. I'm sure you are smart enough to have no objection in this situation", he spoke looking at the sky and looked down at her.Wardah couldn't help but smile at his snarky comment. It was true that her religion allowed rules to be bent in unavoidable circumstances like these, but she tried to avoid it as much as possible. She observed how carefully and slowly he seated her inside as though she was a doll.
He came to the other side, "Mala, go sit in the front" , trusting no one other than himself to take care of Wardah.
"Let's go. Don't take the highway. We could be spotted", he instructed Mahesh once everyone was seated.
As soon as the car jolted forward, his arm extended towards Wardah involuntarily without realizing that he had a deep cut on that arm and it was bandaged. "Ow!", he hissed and stopped midway, realising he wasn't allowed to touch her."Does it hurt?", Wardah looked at him, her face full of concern.
"No. Nothing compared to your pain, atleast", by now he was having a genuine doubt regarding her. Who can have concern on their face for someone who almost killed them and broke their leg? Do such people exist?
"Pain isn't small or big. Whether its from a cut or a broken heart, it demands to be felt and that makes it equal", she replied with a smile and he couldn't decide what was more soothing; her words or the smile that accompanied them.
Shehzad sighed and looked outside his window. She unknowingly managed to make him feel better about everything with one sentence.
