Aarav parked his car outside the farmhouse and ran inside without bothering to lock his car.

Dr Mehra breathed a sigh of relief seeing Aarav at the door. His appearance clearly indicated the hurry he left the house in. Clad in his night shorts and vest, his face and tousled hair mirrored his exhaustion.

"How is she? Where is Shehzad?" Aarav questioned as soon as he saw Dr Mehra.

"They're both fine," he replied, handing him a glass of water, "relax."

"I need to see them," Aarav refused the glass offered and proceeded towards the room.

"They're asleep. Wardah has gained consciousness but I've given her meds to put her back to sleep. She was already very weak and after last night's incident, she's pretty much drained out," Dr Mehra explained.

"How's Shehzad?" Aarav asked.

"He's exhausted. Both physically and mentally. I asked him multiple times to go and catch some sleep but he wouldn't move."

"Oh. I'll convince him," Aarav sighed, thinking of ways to make him sleep.

"Not needed. I gave him meds too. He's asleep now"

"In the same room? " he asked in shock.

"Yes and let him be. He wouldn't let her out of his sight even for a second. If you move him, he won't sleep," Dr Mehra adviced.

"Alright. I don't know if I should inform Riya or not. If I do, she'll kill Shehzad," Aarav sighed again.

"If you don't, she'll kill you both," Dr Mehra added. "Let Wardah and Shehzad decide. Go upstairs and rest while they are asleep. I'll be back later in the day to check on them."

"Okay. Thanks doc," Aarav replied and went to rest.
*************

Waradah woke up with a dull headache. Her eyes seemed heavy like they do when you oversleep. She felt something warm in one palm, she turned her head and saw a hand holding hers. She craned her neck further and found Shehzad sitting on the floor with his head hanging and his hand holding hers.

Every event of last night rushed to her mind. She remembered seeing the glass break. What happened after that? Did he bring her in her room? How did he manage to calm her? She sat up and brought her hand out of his grasp as slowly as possible to avoid waking him.

It was 2:30 in the afternoon, Wardah checked the time. She pulled her wheelchair closer to the bed and tried to get on it.

"Wardah?" Shehzad spoke. The movement of the mattress had woken him up.

"Are you okay? What happened to you? You almost killed me with worry," he gushed, holding her hand and looking at her with worry filled in his eyes. He wanted to hug her out of relief but when he saw her staring at his hand, he pulled it back contended with the fact that she was fine.

"You broke that bottle in front of me last night. Don't break glass in front of me," she replied in a cool voice.

"Why? You were asking me to stop them? Who is trying to hurt you, Wardah?" These questions were consuming his mind since last night and he needed answers, at any cost.

"I'm fine now," she replied not looking at him.

"Now? What about before? What had happened?" he asked again in frustration. Her vagueness was driving him crazy.

"I don't want to talk about it," she answered with finality in her tone and proceeded to climb onto the wheelchair, knowing that it would distract him. And she was right. Shehzad leaped up on his feet and lifted her in his arms instead of putting her on the wheelchair.
