Nate's POV
I found my mate. Skylar was my mate. I don't understand how found her though, I haven't turned 18 yet.
After our heated make out session, I left Sky and headed to Austin's office to see if he knew what was happening.
"Hey." I greeted my best friend. "Can I ask you something?"
"Is it about you finding your mate early?" he questioned, "Because I think I know why."
I nodded my head, signaling for him to continue.
"Well in most cases, mates find each other when the male turns 18, but there are some rare cases when they find each other earlier. I think it is because she felt threatened and extremely protective. Which caused her wolf to rise to the surface stronger than usual. This in turn, somehow, caused your wolf to surface and feel the need to protect her, therefore identifying that you were mates. Also, Layla submitted to her because you are my beta, which means she is beta female, giving her a higher rank than Layla. Her wolf was clearly agitated by what Layla said to her and went full protective beta female, awakening the mate bond earlier." he explained to me.
"Wow, I didn't even know that was possible." I replied.
"I had heard about it happening once before but didn't pay any attention to it. Clearly Layla put Sky on edge, I think you should go ask her what it was about." Austin suggested
"Yeah, I was going to, but I just wanted to know how this was possible."
Before I left Austin, I couldn't help notice the hopeless look he held in his eyes.
"She's your mate Austin, and even if she doesn't know it yet, you two are destined for each other. You're doing the right thing. You just have to trust that the Moon Goddess knows what she's doing." I gave him a reassuring smile and a pat on the shoulder.
He gave me a nod I return, and with that I left his office, heading for my mates bedroom. She normally lived in her own house with her parents, but since everything with Kaila and Austin, she has been staying at the pack house, which I was suddenly very happy about.
I knocked on her door, waiting to be welcomed in.
"Come in." I heard her soft voice yell out.
"Hey beautiful." I mumbled into her hair as I hugged her tightly to me.
"Hey" she smiled back at me.
"So I talked to Austin, and he said that it is possible for mates to find each other before the male turns 18. In our case, he thinks we found each other early because you felt threatened and were in a situation where you needed to show you dominance over Layla, because we are mates and you are destined to be a beta female, your wolf just accessed that power earlier and in turn opened the mate bond earlier." I explained to her.
"Makes sense I guess." She replied.
"What did Layla say to you Sky? What made you so protective and so dominant?" I asked her, worry lacing my voice.
"It was nothing, just Layla being Layla." She replied, clearly hiding something from me.
"Layla just being Layla does not make your wolf surge forward to the surface with that much power that it breaks through a mate bond Sky. Please tell me, you're my mate. I want to protect you, or help you protect what she threatened. I would do anything for you Skylar." I told her honestly.
She looked at me whit so many emotions in her eyes, but one stood out. Trust. She leaned forward and kissed me passionately.
"I would do anything for you too." She replied, pausing briefly. "Layla threatened Kaila." She began
a growl rumbled in my chest, at hearing my Luna was threatened.
"What do you mean?" I questioned
"She said that Kaila was a weak human and that not even her mate cared if she was hurt or not. She also implied that she was going to take away Austin from her, and she was listening in on our conversation because she knows Austin is having problems with his wolf." Skylar explained, fury flashing in her eyes.
I smiled at her
"Why are you smiling at me? Did you not hear what Layla said about Kai?" she asked, shocked.
I pulled her into my arms as she relaxed under my touch.
"I smiled because of how perfect you are, and because you are going to be the best beat female. The way you talk to protectively and so strongly, turns be on." I whispered huskily into her ear.
"Oh" was he only reply as she hid her flaming cheeks in my chest.
"Don't hide your blush from me, it's cute." I whisper as I gently tilt her head up with the pointer finger on her chin.
"Is it too early to tell you that I love you?" she questioned cautiously, as if preparing for rejection. The idea had my wolf growling in the back of my mind.
"I fell in love with you as soon as I saw you today." I smiled back at her.
She took me back to her house and lets just say after that, we became a fully mated pair.

Kailas POV
I woke up with sunrays streaming into my bedroom and warming my face. I rolled over and checked my phone to see it was 10am. That's odd, Austin has never failed to send me a morning wake up text at 8am along with what he has in store for us that day. Even if he couldn't see me that day he would still send me a morning text and apologies for not being able to spend time with me. Oh my god Kaila, its one morning that he missed, you are clearly overthinking things.

10:03am – morning aussie, no morning text with todays schedule? Don't know what to do without it ;)
From Austin
10:03 – I'm sure you'll figure something out, you're a big girl.\
What the hell. I was a bit taken back by his short reply. He always had something smart to say, effectively making me laugh. My mind was on overdrive. He replied to me straight away which means he had his phone on him already, therefore he purposefully didn't text me. Is he angry with me? Did I do something wring? Oh my lord I sound so pathetic right now. But I couldn't help it, my feelings for Austin have significantly grown since we had been spending so much time together.

10:05 – Hey what's wrong? Are you mad at me?

10:06 – Nothings wrong
From Kaila
10:06 – Austin something's wrong, your not acting like normal
From Austin
10:07 – Kaila we are texting, how can you tell me I'm not being my normal self? Just drop it.
Ouch. What the hell is wrong with him this morning? I was annoyed at him now.

10:08 – Gladly
With an angry huff I tossed me phone across my room onto my beanbag. I got dressed for the day and text Sky, needing to talk to my best friend.
