One Month Later
"Canon ball!" Libby lands on my stomach waking me up. "Happy Birthday sissy." Libby yells while bouncing on my stomach.
It won't be a happy birthday when I throw up on her. "Thanks." Sitting up I see Catherine and James smiling at me while they hold a cake. "Is that for me?" I ask acting shocked.
"Yes," Catherine smiles while putting it in front of me. "Make a wish."
I wish this year will be better than last year.
Blowing out the candles Libby sticks her finger in the icing then sucks on her finger. "This is really good." Cake is never a good option for a child in the morning.
"You two get ready and Arabella we need to speak with you downstairs." Both of them walk out the room leaving me thinking, what did I do now?
Libby and I decided to match wearing jeans with a black sweater. With brown boots, a white scarf and hair pulled in a pony tail. "So what is it you guys wanted to talk about?" I ask as I come down the stairs.
"You two look so cute," Catherine squeals. "Let me take a picture." Libby runs over to me and stands beside me smiling while I fake a smile. "I'm so posting this on my website." Catherine goes into the kitchen texting on her phone distracted from my question.
"Well." James drags out. "We've decided that you need a job." Fake dad say what now? Did I just here the word job out of his mouth? "Also we have decided that if the parade of boys doesn't stop we will take away your car and give you a curfew." Guess they aren't as blind as I thought they were.
Was it the boys leaving late at night or was it the loud noises. "What gave me away?" I ask.
"Well maybe the boy clothes we would randomly fine. The amount of parties you went to last month or was it the door slamming early in the morning. " Glancing out the corner of my eye I can see Libby sneaking off. She is so going to get it.
"I think I have a justified reason as to why I was a little crazy last month." I shrug as I take out my mobile looking at the new gossip going around.
"What could ever justify partying and drinking?" Catherine looks at me as if I have no common sense. "Give me one good reason, and I won't punish you for it." Is she serious?
I am a teenager with raging hormones. I need me time. "I don't have to explain anything to you Catherine. Your not my mother and you'll never be my mother. Not that you'll ever be one anyways." I think I hit a nerve.
"Watch it Arabella." James steps up.
"Fine, when your parents die and you end up homeless you tell me how you will deal with the single thought that it's all your fault." No one knows my little secret.
"Arabella it wasn't your fault though." Catherine steps forward, but I step back making her stop.
"I left the door open when I left." It's about time this comes out. I can't hold this in anymore." We had a high tech security system, but I forgot to turn it on when I left that night."
"Arabella-"
"What's this job?" I ask wiping away the tears.
I don't do fast food restaurants. I've been their done that. It was not a good experience. "It's a store that everyone loves. Here's the address. They'll be expecting you." Nodding my head I walk out the house slamming the door.
Following the directions I soon arrive at my destination. Parking right out front I take a while looking at the building. It's a cute little store. Well not little, maybe medium sized. The grey bricks look brand new with the contrasting turquoise doors and banners. The store windows are full of mannequins dressed very nicely if I say so my self. Guess it's now or never. Getting out the car I head inside. As soon as I open the door a bell goes off.
"Hi how may I help you?" A girl walks up to me looking bored.
"I'm here to talk to the manager." She looks me up and down frowning. Talk about bad customer service.
"You must be the girl that's taking my spot?" I'm guessing she's getting laid off.
She stands in front of me just smacking her gum as if I am boring her. "Are you going to show me to the manager or not?" I could really deal without this.
"Sure, she's in the back." With one last glare she walks past me just as I stick my foot out causing her to trip and fall onto a table of clothes. "You bitch." She seethes while trying to get up.
After being called that so many times I just have to live up to it. "Oh, I am so sorry." Sending one last smile I head to the back ignoring the looks from customers and the workers. Knocking on the door that says manager the door soon opens.
"You must be Arabella," She greets me. We both sit down and then she starts. "I'm the manager and owner of F.C. Boutique. You are here for the new job position right? I've done my research on you Arabella Chase. It seems as if you have a neck for trouble, and from what I just saw on my cameras I'm right." She flips threw a book before looking up at me.
"Well if someone's rude to me I'm going to be rude back." Just the way of life.
"Well what if it was a customer?" She acts like I want this job, but I can't ruin this for Catherine.
"Then I'll suck it up and be he bigger person." Maybe, maybe not.
After some more questions which I might have lied about to get the job she smiles. I'm taking that as a good sign because if I didn't get this job Catherine would kill me. "Great, you've got the job. You will be walking the floor to help the customers. You seem to have pretty good fashion sense, I'll be sending you home with some of my clothes so make sure to wear them tomorrow. You will be here at twelve-thirty and will get off at five-thirty. This will be a test run and then if I don't have any problems you'll be an official employee." Gosh I hate being judged by people.
"Seems great." Standing up she shakes my hand. A knock sounds on the door before it opens with a girl handing her a blue plastic bag of clothes.
She checks the bag before handing it to me."Here you go have a great day." Taking the bag I walk out the store and throw it on the back of my car. Buckling up I catch something in the mirror. A black car unmarked sits on the corner with dark tinted windows. Putting the car in drive I pull off slow as the car starts following me at a close but yet far space. Once I reach the house I see the car stop on the corner.
Creepy.
Pulling in the grave just as my mobile beeps. Turning it on I see the creepiest message ever.
You can't avoid me forever.
Who's in the car?
