"The Day I stood up
against Michael Todd"[Day 8]
"What did you do on your day off?", I ask Jake and he smiles softly. For a few seconds, I wish that he could've been able to come with us, but then, on the other hand, I'm glad that she spent time with me alone.
I'm being possessive once again.
"Hannah and I spent the entire day together watching some stupid show called'Pretty Little Liars'. She convinced me that, as her brother, I should watch her favorite show with her, but just a little advice for you Riley: Don't watch it. It's about girls being bullied by text messages after one of them died because of some pointless reasons. Every normal person would just call the police, but you know how those shows are there is no real logic behind it at all. One girl is even hooking up with her teacher, can you believe that?!", his voice filled with shock and incomprehension ere a laughter escapes my lips. Dealing with topics socially awkward people can't understand. Jake had a tough day.
"But anyway, how was your day off? Anything special?"
"Keira and I went to an amusement park", I shrug before he grasps my collar and pulls me closer. His eyes burn with rage and excitement. A weird combination which I've never seen before.
"Why on earth didn't you tell me? I would've joined you guys instead of wasting my time watching that ridiculous show!", he ends his sentence with a huge breath before he continues: "How was it? It must have been good because you're blushing Riley. Man, I am so jealous!"
"It was fine. Nothing special", I lie since I don't want to reveal too many detailed information about how her mahogany hair swung from one side to the other every time we decided to ride another roller-coaster or about how clumsy Keira Rudd ate her french fries. Not to mention that I don't ever want to tell anyone about how amazing her hot breath felt against my cold lips and how her blue eyes pulled me into another world. A world where I feel at home.
"Just fine? Are you kidding me, Riley? Last time I've seen you two together it looked more than just fine. You like her, you moron", he replies with a serious tone in his voice and I call myself defeated. He is right. I like her and I know that I do. The embarrassing truth is that I'm constantly searching for new ideas and encouraging words to find the confidence and show her that I do. To show her that Riley Young is the only guy she'll ever need. Undoubtedly, I'm not in love with her yet, but I want to fall for her so badly.
"What am I supposed to do?!"
"How about you back the hell off", a threatening, deep voice appears and I turn around to find myself staring at seventeen-year-old, blue-eyed and blonde-haired prince in front of me.
"E-excuse me?"
"You're a nerd I think you heard me clear enough", he replies. He might be an athletic, muscular jock, but it seems like he isn't the brightest bulb. Being a nerd doesn't stand in relation to the main problem here. I can't figure out what he's talking about because he appeared out of the blue, telling me to back off. Back off from what? Am I standing in his way? Is that his locker?
"I-I didn't quite catch what you said", my honest response causes a dumbfounded expression shaping on his face before anger overruns it. Leaving me more confused than ever.
"I said you should get the fúck off Keira's back", he hisses as he takes one step closer. For an unknown reason, I don't back off, but rather stay my ground. Why don't I take a step back? Talking back to Michael Todd is dangerous. Seeing him angry like this is lethal.
