"The Day Keira Rudd and Jake
White became my enemies"[Day 6]
"I feel horrible", Jake mumbles when the two of us enter the classroom. First lesson biology. "A subject with the emphasis on basic biological chemistry, cell structure and function, metabolism and energy transformation, genetics, evolution, classification, and other related topics."
"I feel like I've run into a wall", I reply and he nods quietly.
I arrived at home around 3 AM which means that I only had a couple hours of sleep. Sleep which is the key to recovery after suffering from a hangover.
Keira had kept her promise and took care of the both of us since I can't remember how I got home and how I ended up sleeping in my bed. But when I opened my eyes this morning, a glass of water and a few aspirins were already placed on my nightstand. She had also picked out some clothes for me to wear which was a really nice gesture since I barely woke up on time today. She kept her promise just like on that day when she promised I wouldn't get into trouble for trespassing."This morning, my parents stared at me with their evil grins decorating their faces as if they knew that I drank too much yesterday", Jake explains and I laugh lightly.
Luckily, my parents had already left for work when I made my way to school. They would have bombed me with questions about the party and would have lectured me about drinking alcohol. I'm more than positive about that. Even though they would have also been proud of me trying to rebel. A social norm I don't understand at all.
"I'm never going to drink anything which is served in a red cup again", I swear and Jake laughs loudly. The loud noise causes the headache to worsen immediately, but I can't stop myself from joining him. It feels like ages since Jake and I had really laughed. Laughed about something we usually would have never done.
"But I'm glad that I made the experience though because now I know for sure that this social norm is bullshít", Jake curses and it's the first time that he uses a word like that. My eyes widen before another laughter escapes my lips, meeting his. It seems like Keira hasn't only changed me, but Jake White too.
"Excuse me, are you Riley Young?", the girl with black hair and coffee-brown eyes from yesterday asks and I turn around to face her. I think her name was Liz. She wears sunglasses in October which doesn't make any sense to me. The sun isn't even shining. Maybe she is not the sharpest knife in the draw.
"Y-yes."
"I just wanted to apologize for yesterday. To the both of you. I apologize for my misbehaving", she bows her head in front of us. Jake's glance meets mine in an instant and we stare at each other completely caught off guard.
"It's okay", Jake says, waving his hands in front of him and her coffee-brown eyes meet his pine-green ones. Seconds pass until she breaks the eye-contact. His cheeks are colored with a light pink shade. He is blushing.
"Maybe we can grab a cup of coffee after school?", she asks as I nod quietly. Her weak smile stretches over her lips and Jake seems to enjoy having her around. Which reminds me of the fact that I don't know what happened between them. I don't remember anything after I blacked out in the kitchen. Did I do something which I have to apologize for?
"Liz, stay away from them", a threatening tone in the usually cheerful voice as a shiver runs down my spine. Heavenly blue eyes piercing right through the black-haired girl who is staring at her with a shocked expression on her face. Why is Keira always so different when she talks to this girl? Do they have their own history?
