My body still floats between an unconscious state and an awake haze. It cannot choose which one to be.
But I choose for it.
My eyes snap open, and soreness takes over my body. I groan and shift unconfortably. I am submerged in pillows and blankets, but I push all away because the coldness suffocates me.
I bolt up and take ragged deep breaths. How did I get back here? How long have I been out? Am I dead?
The last thing I remember is sinking to my death, and yet here I am? Odd.
My door opens without a knock and I frown. Lady Watson walks in and we make eye contact. She freezes and screams with delight.
"she's awake! She's awake!" other people rush in as I sit there confused as ever. People cry, and dance with joy.
But all abruptly stops as my father and mother walk in.
My mothers face is tear stained as she walks to me and wraps me in a tight embrace. But my father stays back.
"what's going on mommy?" I ask timidly. She just smiles a little but that is probably from my feeble mind.
My eyebrows furrow and I look to my father.
"everyone leave" he speaks with authority. Every maid, butler and lady in waiting quickly rushes out without a second thought.
Again, I look to my father.
"Rebel, you are hear by grounded to the castle. You will always have a guard by your side 24 hours of the day. And all of your precious items that lie outside of the castle will be destroyed. Because of your thoughtless actions, your room will now rest at the tallest tower, away from the ocean. The walls will rest higher then your view of it, and the archways that lead to the ocean will be cemented in. Until the day I die, these rules and changes will stand."
My eyes widen, at each punishment. Not only to myself, but to the kingdom. The unsupply of water will kill the homeless who boil it for multiple uses.
Tears stream down my face as I look to my mothers face for help. But she only looks away. With that action, I knew she agreed with my father.
"But that's not fair!" I yell, taking my father back.
"it is indeed fair! You disobeyed our orders and shame our family young lady. I stand by my punishment through and through." his eyes are like steel.
I don't know what hurt more, being piled with punishments, or being blamed for shaming the family.
My mother try's to comfort me, but I push her away. By that I know I hurt her, but they don't know how hurt I was.
I get up and run for the door, ignoring my body's complaints. Tears blind my vision, but I still run.
Who knew my life could end with one decision.
