Matt pulled me closer to him and wiped the tears from my cheek.
"Hey everything is going to be alright. I promise."
I place my head against his chest and close my eyes. I heard the door open and heard a familiar voice.
"What did I get called down here for?"
Matt held me tighter, not letting me get up. I didn't try to either, knowing if I did it wouldn't end well.
"Sit down Amanda, the principal will be with you shortly."
"Do I have to sit by that thing?" She asked, referring to me. I pushed Matt's and away and walked out. I heard someone call after me but I ignored them. I kept going until I reached the auditorium. I sat in the back and pulled my knees to my chest. The bell rang and the band came in and set up on the stage. I looked up and saw someone come over to me. I recognized him. We used to be close friends.
"Hey. Are you okay?" He asked halfway up the isle. Once he got closer his face lot up."Sarah? Is that you?"
"Yeah it's me Julian." I said quietly.
"Are you okay?"
"No."
"Well I think I know what'll cheer you up. You always loved spinning flag rifle and saber."
"I haven't done that in a long time Julian..."
"Come on. Please. I remember when you did it for band. You always looked so happy. Please try. I think Mrs. Cole will let you," he said reaching out to help me up.
"Alright," I said taking his hand. I couldn't remember why we ever stopped being friends.
"Why did we ever stop being friends?" I asked.
"I moved remember. I just came back a few weeks ago."
"Oh yeah."
"You still want to be my best friend?"
"Yeah. You want to be mine?"
"Yeah."
"Right now I have like one friend and well that's my boyfriend."
"Well I'm glad to be your friend. Come on let's go get your equipment."
I followed him into the band room towards the back to the guard closet.
