"Y/N! Y/N, get up, you'll be late for school!"
You grumble, rolling over to shielded your eyes from the lights. "Y/N, get up, you and S/N will be late if you don't hurry!" You tumble out of bed groggily, get dressed and brush your teeth and hair. Then, you clamber back into bed.
"Y/N! Get up now!" Your foster mother yells, seeing you in bed. "But Mom, I'm already ready!" You complain, standing up to prove it. "Well, go downstairs and eat." Your foster mother tells you. You trudge down the stairs and our yourself some coffee and make yourself a bagel with cream cheese. S/N comes downstairs, reluctantly joining you for breakfast. "Mornin' Sleeping Beauty." You say, causing S/N to glare at you. You grab your backpack and your lunch after eating. "Your turn to do the dishes, Sleepyhead." You say chidingly to your foster sibling. They roll their eyes at you; they tend to be grumpy in the morning. Your foster mother comes downstairs, and you all go to the car.

You arrive five minutes before the bell rings, rushing to first period. You trip, causing snickers from others in the hall. Glaring at them, you run into class right on time. You let out a sigh, running late always made you nervous.
Even though you were almost late every day, you always maintained a straight A grade.
"Welcome back to school everyone, I hope to start this year on a good note and to end on one, too!" Your teacher said in a sing-song voice. "Today, we will talk about the Underground and the Monsters that live- or, rather lived there." She sang. You perked up. The monsters had always interested you, and they never failed to impress.
"As many of you know, the monsters were recently able to break the Barrier separating us and come above ground. Has anyone seen a monster yet?" Nobody said anything. You looked around, expecting someone to have seen a monster, but nobody had. "Well, today, class, we will be talking about the history of monsters and humans." The teacher chirped.
The class let out an exasperated groan.

"Hey, Skye, wait up!" You called to your best friend, who was walking ahead. "Hurry up, Slowpoke!" She called back to you, laughing. You two were walking to your favorite tea and coffee shop. "Maybe we'll see some monsters," You thought.
******
You walked into the shop, allowing the enchanting smells of all of the different teas and coffees to take you away.
"Hey, earth to Y/N!" Skye says, snapping in front of your face. "Sorry, come on." You said, leading her over to a corner table. "So, what do you think of the monsters being free?" You asked. "What do I think? I think it's the worst thing that could ever happen! They're plain evil." Skye snapped. "Why? They aren't all bad. You can't just judge them because one of them did something wrong." You said. "Don't tell me that you're glad their free!" Skye said, groaning at you. You feel your face heating up as you became flustered. "Well, yeah, I am! What's so bad about it?" You said in defense. "Ugh, just..." Skye said, before breaking off. She waved to some of the "popular group" and went over to sit with them. You sighed, she had been hanging out with them more and more and less and less with you.
You were drawing the monsters breaking the barrier on a spare napkin when you felt a light tap on your shoulder.
Expecting it to be Skye, you hid the drawing, thinking that she would get mad if she saw it.
When you turned around, it was not Skye that you saw.
No, it wasn't Skye at all.
