"Stop stealing my spicy nuggets! I swear to god LaVine you never come between a woman and her food." Tinashe glared at Zach, while he reached to steal a sip of her lemonade.
"Hey missy, I paid. So technically it's my food!" Zach retorted, with a mouth full of food.
Tinashe rolled her eyes, but kept quiet because he did indeed pay. She stole some of his fries as payback.
"Thank you for treating me to dinner you gentleman. You never let me pay! At least let me treat you next time." She said sincerely.
"No can do ma'am. That's not how my parents raised me. You know I always gotchu." He cheesed at her, and she couldn't help but blush as he gave her a kiss on the forehead. Her stomach fluttered from the contact.
"Okay, but let's get froyo and at least let me pay for that. It won't be much money at all. It's 2016! A woman can pay. The times are evolving!" She ranted.
He laughed, "Okay okay I know you're an independent woman who don't need no man. But I don't want froyo, I'll just steal some of yours. You best be putting fruity pebbles on there though!"
She glared at him playfully, then grinned. "We've been best friends for 16 years and you still think I won't put our favorite topping on our frozen yogurt. No trust!"
He stuck his tongue out at her.
She giggled, "You're 5 years old Zachary I swear! 5! Off to Pinkberry we go!"
Zach playfully rolled his eyes. "Nothing will stop this woman from food I swear..."
They arrived at Pinkberry and Tinashe placed her regular order of original yogurt, fruity pebbles, strawberries, raspberries, Reese's and gummy bears. Reese's being her favorite and gummy bears being Zach's favorite.
The worker was admittedly cute in Tinashe's opinion and was even a little flirty with her.
"That'll be $6.40 miss. But I'll make it $5 if I can know your name and possibly your number. It's not every day I get a customer as pretty as you." The cute cashier said to her, winking.
Tinashe blushed, and opened her mouth to speak but she felt a hand wrap around her waist protectively. She knew it was Zach and mentally face palmed. She had never understood why he had always gotten so defensive about guys hitting on her, but she always just assumed it was because he was overprotective.
"Nah man, I'll pay full price." Zach said coolly, sounded extremely annoyed. He hurriedly swiped his credit card before Tinashe could protest and pulled her closer into his body.
"Zach! I was supposed to pay! I can pay for myself remember? I feel bad with you always spending your money on me." She turned to the cashier. "Also I'm really sorry about this."
The cashier doesn't dare look at her, because Zach watched his every move.
Zach paused from glaring at the cashier and directed his attention back to Tinashe.
"Nah, you know I always got you baby girl." He pressed another kiss on her forehead and squeezed her hip playfully, rubbing the affection in the cashier's face.
The cashier looked terrified, "Look man I'm so sorry I didn't know that-"
Zach cut him off, "Yeah yeah whatever man. Just do your fucking job and stop hitting on your customers dude. Pretty sure that's not in the job description. Let's go T."
He practically dragged her out of the store while Tinashe attempted to apologize but Zach wasn't having any of it.
He started the car without a word and started driving home while Tinashe is stared at him in disbelief and (not that she would admit it) a little bit of gratitude.
