Chapter 2Tapping her freshly manicured nails against the plywood table she was seated at, Aveline's eyes were busy glancing into her iPhone's lock screen, that welcomed her with zero notifications for a change.
"Wow, that's a first," A comment in a known feminine voice wafted into her ears, as she looked up to register the sight of the familiar round-faced blonde. "Expecting a text off the club guy?" The fair-haired girl wiggled her eyebrows, after having heaved herself onto the table, a teasing smile playing across her lips.
"Sorry this is not turning out to be one your highschool chick-flicks Jazz, 'cause we never exchanged numbers in the first place," Aveline quirked an eyebrow, trying to make a point to her best friend, who had always known very well how to banter the living hell out of her, especially when it came to guys. "And for the record, I'm waiting for Ed to text me back; he got my physics book,"
"Forget about it; bet he's not making it to school today. That douche is probably snoring right now," The blonde girl mildly chuckled at the thought of the lazy boy she was referring to. "You know though Avy, I don't get why the stranger dude didn't ask for your number,"
"You know though Jasmine, I don't get why you're so concerned about this whole stranger-club-dude issue," Aveline's tone imitated her friend's perfectly.
"That's because the picky girl called Aveline seemed to have liked him quite a bit," Jasmine stated, a knowing smirk imprinting itself across her face, as she shook her legs back and forth, colliding them with the bench in front of her, occasionally.
A couple of seconds followed as Aveline took in those words said to her, but decided on disregarding them nonetheless. "He's just another guy Jazz. You know what? I never should've told you about this,"
"Exactly." Jasmine smugly stated. "How many other times have you actually spent right about a good 40 minutes talking to me about this random guy you met at the club and what all he said and how sweet he was and how his black hair and chiseled cheeks were so-"
"I just got a bit carried away, alright?" She shushed the babbling girl, resisting the heat and shade of crimson rising up her cheeks. "It's gone, it was nothing. Can we end it here, Jazz? Please," She looked at her best friend expectantly, but an interruption was caused before Jasmine could answer.
"See ya at 5!" A wink and an obnoxious fly-kiss was blown Aveline's way, as the blonde boy turned back around on his heels, joining the snobbish horde of inadequately dressed chics at a corner of the spacious classroom.
"Was that about a date?" Jasmine cocked an eyebrow at her now uncomfortable friend, as the girl rubbed her fingers beneath her ear, awkwardly.
"Uhm, kind of, it's-"
"Why him?! He's such a manwhore, you know that! Everyone knows that! Why Blake?!" She exclaimed, clearly disapproving of the date, her friend was all set to attend.
"I know," Aveline droned, desolately. "I just thought like, y'know, he's been asking for a while now and I'll put a fullstop his pleas up by simply going out once. Later on I can be like, I find myself not so interested after the first date.." She truthfully stated her reasons. "It'll shut him up for sure," She further justified, looking at her friend expectantly.
"Hey Jazzy," A throaty call sounded, averting both girls' attention towards where the voice had originated from.
"Go sit with him," Aveline offered a smile to her now blushing friend, who slumped her body off the table and shyly made her way towards her crush, clearly delighted to have been invited to sit with him.
