I sort of came into that state of consciousness where your half asleep and half awake. I kept my eyes closed and I could hear voices coming from another room. I was pretty sure one of them was Isaac, the other one might be Derek.
"She almost got killed Derek, we have to do something about the Kanima" Isaac growled. Ok, so the other voice was definitely Derek.
"Do you think I'm not trying Isaac, because I am" Derek countered angrily. I finally opened my eyes and recognized my surroundings as Derek's living room. I sat up just as Isaac spoke again.
"Why don't we all just kill Jackson, we all know the Kanima is Jackson" Isaac pointed out. What the hell is a Kanima? Why do they want to kill Jackson?!
"I don't want to kill Jackson, partially because I took part in causing this and also Scott doesn't like killing people" Derek explained.
"Oh, so Scott doesn't like killing people even when more people are dying when we don't" Isaac grumbled "Do you always do what Scott says?! Look I respect Scott and he is a friend, but when it comes to my sister's safety I'm willing to do anything even if Scott doesn't agree with it." I heard one of them take in a deep and annoyed breath, most likely Derek.
"Look Isaac, your sister's safety is not in jeopardy-" Derek started but Isaac cut him off.
"Like hell my sister's safety isn't in jeopardy, if I hadn't stepped in tonight she would have been as good as dead" Isaac fumed.
"Well part of the reason is that she doesn't know Isaac" Derek countered "The Kanima seems to be going after the people that know the least." What don't I know?
"I am so not dragging her into-" Isaac stopped abruptly when I knocked over a stack of magazines when trying to get closer. Suddenly Isaac was hurrying into the living room.
"Oh uh, hey Alex" Isaac greeted "It's about time you were up." I could have danced around the subject but I just decided to go strait to the point.
"What don't I know?" I asked in a demanding tone. Isaac sighed as he flashed his eyes away from mine.
"Look, it's nothing" He mumbled.
"You and I both know it's not nothing, I heard you arguing with Derek" I countered "please just tell me the truth Isaac." Isaac bit his lip as he looked toward the floor.
"I said it's nothing" He ground threw clenched teeth "can't you just except that?!" With that Isaac fled up to his room and I sank in my seat. I could tell Isaac was upset and that is not what I meant to happen at all. I looked over to Derek's still figure in the door frame.
"Can you please tell me what's going on" I pleaded to him.
"I'm sorry but I'm not going to go against your brother's choice, no matter how much I think you should know" He sighed.
"Isaac's just being stubborn, he'll get over it" I offered.
"Look, I'm sorry but you are just going to have to get your information elsewhere" Derek sighed giving me a sad look. With that Derek left and I was left to my thoughts.
Well at least my suspicions were confirmed, there is some big secret here in Beacon Hills. Though why Isaac is so dead set against me knowing is beyond me. I got up from the couch and headed up stairs as well. I wanted to make up with Isaac but when I got upstairs his door was shut and I had a feeling it was locked as well.
I decided I'd just deal with him in the morning and I headed to my room. I quickly dressed into my pajamas and I was about to climb in bed when I caught a glimpse of the mirror. I lifted a hand up to the bandage and peeled it back to reveal a big gash on my forehead, probably from hitting my head on the asphalt of the parking lot. I sighed as I stuck the bandage back in place and I felt a cool breeze. I looked over to see that my window was open.
That was strange, I don't remember opening my window at all today, maybe it was Derek. I walked over to shut it when something slimy caught my attention. On the window sill was the same clear gel stuff that was on the books in the library. I reached forward and touched it, rubbing my fingers together. I just started wondering what it was when my legs collapsed underneath me and I realized I couldn't move my body. It was like the same feeling from the parking lot. I thought about calling out to Isaac but decided against it. I wanted Isaac to think I'd given up the whole what don't I know thing so I could do some investigating myself. I was going to figure out Beacon Hills' big mystery.
