The next night I found myself out behind Derek's house. It was probably about 10 PM. I had to figure out what was going on in this town and I felt like Derek and my brother were in the thick of it, so where better than to start in Derek's woods.
I scanned the expanse in front of me but I couldn't spot anything. I sighed as I took a seat on a fallen tree. How am I supposed to find out what's going on here if I don't even know what to look for? I guess I could start by looking for that lizard like creature that attacked me. I shuddered at the thought of it. I started to consider heading back to the house when suddenly I heard the snapping of a branch.
I whipped my head around toward the sound but there was nothing there. I heard another branch snap behind me and I spun around to see that lizard thing. I took a nervous step backwards, afraid it was going to attack again. I watched as it tilted it's head and took slow cautious steps toward me. I took a small step back for every step he took forward until my back ran into a tree and I winced.
My heart was beating at about a mile a minute I was so scared. I looked up and met the lizard creature's eyes and was a bit taken aback. They didn't look threatening, they just looked..... curious. The tail was slowly waving back and forth. When I noticed it's clawed feet, they actually looked like human hands with scales. The lizard thing took another step toward me and it was now right at my feet, and surprisingly I wasn't that scared anymore. I had just started to bend down to be at its eye level when I heard a high pitched whistle and suddenly the lizard thing was crying out in pain with an arrow in its side.
"No!" I found myself crying as I bent down to the fallen lizard thing. I checked the heartbeat and found it was still alive. I also heard quick foot steps coming from the direction the arrow had come so I quickly pulled the lizard into some thick brush near by. I wasn't paying much attention to the lizard as I peered through the bushes and watched a group of five men come into view.
"Where the hell did it go?!" one of the men fumed "I swear I just shot the thing."
"It couldn't have gotten far" another one explained "come on lets search the area." With that they all ran off in different directions and I glanced down at the creature with a surprised gasp. Where the creature had been laying, now was Jackson. Naked may I add. He groaned in his sleep and I threw my jacket over his lower half as I blushed. I was about to try waking him up until I heard footsteps coming back this way.
"I think you might have missed Gerard" I heard one of the men say softly.
"God damn it" the guy I'm assuming was Gerard swore "Let's get moving, there's no point in staying if it's gone." I waited until the footsteps faded away to shake Jackson awake.
"Wha-" Jackson groaned and then winced at the pain of the arrow still in his waist.
"You were shot, we have to get you to a hospital" I explained.
"I can't go to a hospital" he said frantically. I looked around not knowing what to do. Finally after a few minutes I got an idea.
"Can you climb, you know, scale houses?" I asked and he gave me a quizzing look.
"Yeah, why?" he said curiously.
"Just follow me" I commanded.

20 minutes later I was entering my room with some of Isaac's clothes and the first aid kit in hand. I chucked them on the bed and opened the window for Jackson. He had my jacket tied around his waist but he was still shivering from the cold when he climbed in.
"Put these on" I demanded as I chucked Isaac's pants at him and turned around. I waited until he told me he had them on to turn around.
"Ok, so what's the big secret?" I asked demandingly. He winced again from the arrow that drew my attention yet again.
"Can we get this arrow out first?" he asked annoyed. I rolled my eyes and had him sit on the bed as I opened up the first aid kit. I swabbed some peroxide on the would quickly before I wrapped a hand around the arrow. I was about to pull it out when I stopped.
"What are you waiting on?" Jackson asked threw clenched teeth. I knew the peroxide was stinging. I grabbed up my comb and held it up to him.
"Bite down on this, it will help a bit" I explained as I remembered reading it in a book. He sighed as he took it and bit down on it. I put my hands back on the arrow and as quick as possible I ripped the arrow from his side and he cried out in pain, the comb falling from his mouth. I quickly held some gauze to the wound to slow the bleeding.
Once the blood had slowed measurably I placed a big bandage on the wound and Jackson leaned back on my bed exhausted.
"So are you going to tell me what's going on here in Beacon Hills?" I asked curiously.
"Well I figured your brother would have told you seeing as how you are currently living with two werewolves-" He started but I cut him off in shock.
"Two werewolves?" I asked in curious shock. He smirked at the surprised look on my face and continued.
"Yeah, you should really take a look at the company you hang around" Jackson chuckled dryly "There's a whole pack of werewolves here in Beacon Hills, and your supposed friends like Scott, Stiles, and Allison are all in the midst of it."
"But werewolves are just myth" I accused, annoyed at his sad attempts at a lie.
"Fine, don't believe me, but your the one that actually saw me morph back to a human from a Kanima" He grumbled and he almost seemed upset.
"You attacked me in the parking lot" I accused angrily.
"Do you think I had a choice Alex?!" he sputtered and then his voice reduced to a sigh "I can barely remember my time as a Kanima when I'm human, let alone control it."
"You don't like being a Kanima" I guessed softly. He peered at me from the corners of his eyes before sitting up on the edge of my eye.
"Would you want to be a super killing machine with no say in the matter?" he asked in an aggravated tone and I shook my head "I was supposed to be a werewolf" He said the last part in an almost sullen tone "I was supposed to be good, I was supposed to be great." A small frown pulled at my lips.
"What happened, how did you become the Kanima instead?" I asked curiously. He sighed as he bit his lip.
"Derek bit me, but the thing is. The form you take reflects your personality.... so I guess I'm just a big asshole" he grumbled as he leaned his head forward into his hands "I guess I'm just a fucking screw up." I saw him fighting back tears and I placed a supportive hand on his shoulder on his shoulder impulsively. He looked over with a sad look in his eyes and just stared at my hand.
"You're not a big screw up Jackson" I countered softly "You've just made some bad decisions.... but doesn't everybody?" His eyes lifted to meet mine.... and before I knew it, his lips were pressed to mine......
