"Cheyenne what are you doing awake?" My heart was still racing from all the shock.
"You realize you had mom worried sick." I could barley see her but I could sense the worry she was hiding.
"I don't have long to live, Cheyenne. I just hope you realize where I'm coming from." I tried to get her to understand, but he round kind was doing lots of other things.
She could sense that I was leaving, and not coming back. She stepped out of the dark and into the pale moonlight that seemed to light up her steamy grey eyes, which were also glassy, "I know it may not seem like it but I do love you. Out were my best friend...you are my best friend. What am I suppose to do without you here?"
I watched as a few tears fell from her eyes and I opened my mouth to answer but she was quick to cut me off, "You were always there for me and so I'm going to be here for you."
I was so shocked that her small mind could feel such emotions towards me. It was never like her to act this gushy. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen her act gushy before in my lifetime.
I stepped off of my bed and took her into my arms. I couldn't say anything but I could hug her. I was her older brother and now I'm leaving.
Tears fell from my eyes and so did hers. My shirt began to get soggy from her tears. I wiped mine and pulled we head off of my chest, You are a smart beautiful young girl and you have a bright future in front of you. Out going to be thirteen soon and in eighth grade! I don't have a future anymore, so ice decided to live my last days in happiness. And if happy means doing the things I'm not suppose to then so be it."
She sat down on my bed as I remembered my mothers existence. I quietly left my room to walk across the hall and enter my mothers room.
The room was dark aside from the small sliver of moonlight coming through the crack in the window curtain.
The crack led a long skinny line from the floor in front of the window in front of her bed all the way up across her heart and then her face.
I walked up along side her bed and got on my knees. I could tell she was broken down and tired. Her face was in such a peaceful position. Every feature she had was resting and I didn't want to disturb it.
I gave her a small kiss on her forehead, "I love you mommy."
I walked away stopping in my tracks, "I love you too." A small whisper escaped behind me.
I didn't turn around. That was it. That was all I needed. My mother had set me free. I'm finally free to live without being guilty. She understood.
I was back in my bedroom before I knew it. Cheyenne was sitting on my bed just as she was when I left, "So this is it? "
I watched as a few more tears escaped her eyes as I wiped her curly locks from in front of her face, "I love you Chy."
I finally scooped Cameron's bag off of the floor from the side of my bed and made my way back to my window.
On the dirt finally again I walked away from my house and looked back only to see Cheyennes so by face poking through the window. I nodded my head signaling her goodbye.
The car wasn't too far down the street, I would probably make it there in a few seconds just when I head loud footsteps coming behind me.
I turned around as soon as Cheyenne hyped up and gripped my entire body, "Please don't leave without me!"
She was tugging pretty hard on my shirt and began to spill, "I wanna live too! I don't care about anything else! I can always go back to school, and I can always live another day but you can't. I wanna live your last days to the fullest, with you."
I watched as Cameron emerged from the passenger side of the car and tugged her right off of me. He looked me in the eye telling me to do something about this.
"Fine."
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Cheyenne was in total bliss it seemed.
Cameron looked at me like I was an idiot for saying what I said, but I didn't care. If this was her wish and my dying soul cod give it to her, I was going to.
Of course it would be a lot of work. But I knew in my mind I would never let anything like that happen to her.
We then soon all piled into the car and I could sense a big lecture from Cameron coming in my future. I was surprised that Cheyenne didn't even sense the tension going on between me and Cameron. But I guess that is a good thing because the last thing I want her is to feel like we're fighting over her.
"We need to stop by a drug store." Cameron said sternly.
"Why?" Cheyenne poked her head from the back seat to the front.
"This part is going to be in for you," Cameron chucked, "We need disguises." He looked at me and then smiled.
The drive to the market was not quiet at all. I spent the entire time listening to Cameron talk to Cheyenne about fishing and sports. Something they were both into and me not.
It made me happy thought because usually they never got along. Well I shouldn't say they because it's usually just Cheyenne. She can be evil sometimes but it seemed she was begging to soften up. I looked in the rear view mirror and looked at her petit face and smiled.
We choose to go to a quick mark to get the items we needed. We sat in the car for a few moments before getting out.
The inside of the store looked pretty dirty. But the quality of its items seemed to be quite high considering the prices were out of the roof. I walked around looking for ideas to change myself. Me and Cheyenne both stopped directly in front of the hair dye and began looking at different colors. Her hand shot directly for a deep, wine red color.
I out the box up next to her face where her hair sat and decided if it was right, "What do you think?"
We moved over to one of the sunglasses mirrors that was on the sunglasses turning shelf.
"She looked at me all googol eyed, "I love it! Can I get it please?!"
"Yes haha." I smile came to my face from nothing.
I looked over to see Cameron looking smiling in our direction in the men's sections. I turned away blushing.
I need to pick out s hair color but for some reason it was so hard for me, "How about this one?"
She held up a box filled with a lime green hair dye. I only had to look at her for a few seconds to get her to reconsider the mistake she had made, thinking I was to put that shit in my hair.
"Okay how about this one?" She held up a deep orange color.
"I don't think so.." I looked over at the end of the hair dye section and saw the perfect color.
I picked up the box, "Platinum blonde?" Cheyenne face was in total shock.
"What you don't think I can pull it off?" I scrunched my lips at her.
"I just think the Orange or green would be better." She began to laugh.
"You've got to be kidding me." I smiled and tilted my head to the side, taking the green hair dye box out of her hand.
I looked over at Cameron across the store holding the green dye box and the platinum blonde box on either side of my head. I nodded my head signaling him to tell me which one.
His crippled elbow soon raised to point towards the platinum blonde color, "Majority rules."
I looked down at Cheyenne who was sucking her teeth at me, "Yeah what ever." I laughed at her attitude.
I soon approached Cameron to see just what exactly he was up too. He was holding a box for hair clippers in his hand. He was planning to shave his head.
"What do you think babe? Is it too far?" He showed me the front of the box.
"I think it's a great idea. Plus I don't think you should shave this month, just so you appear older." I was staring at his facial hair which seemed to grow in a day.
He usually shaves it all off but he didn't have time to because of the living it up and such. He smiled at me, "Okay." He squinted his eyes and laughed.
We then went to go check out, but cherry end wasn't at the register. I got worried sick and began to search around me, spinning in dramatic circles.
She soon came around the corner of the last isle holding tons of makeup and a set of fireworks. She walked up to us with confidence humans shouldn't have.
"What? Where gonna need it. I promise." She explained herself.
I took a deep breath and helped her out all the make up in the counter, "Will this be it?" The man on the other side of the counter spoke.
He looked like he had been through a lot. But he had not a single spot on his body without a muscle. He seemed kind of tired but a little flirty at the same time.
"Yes." I smiled at looked at Cameron expecting him to pay.
After all he was the one I made carry some of the bank money. He was soon digging in his pockets pulling out bill after bill.
He was giving the man at the register a very devious look. Almost like he wanted to smash his face in with a hammer.
"Jesus it seems you guys robbed a bank with all that money." The man at the register was just kidding around but it made all the three of us look up at him, faster than he could process, "You guys alright?" He was confused.
"Ugh, these bozos.." My sister smiled at the cashier and snatched the money from Cameron.
The register man began handing Cheyenne the bags and eventually spoke again as we were waking out, "Hey you! One with the dark curly hair!" I realized he was talking about me.
I turned around and looked him in the eye, "You got a name?" He gave me a flirtatious smile.
"Not a chance cunt." Cameron stepped in front of me.
Cameron's jaw was flexed and was so sharp it could probably open a can of vegetables. He hands were clenched like he was ready to punch... Or slaughter.
"I'm gonna let you goofballs handle this." Cheyenne giggled her way out of the store and made her way to the car.
"Look I know you guys..." The register guy spoke, "Who wouldn't? You guys are all over the news. You guys expected to come in here and leave without letting me in on your plans? What ever your doing I want in. I'll even keep my mouth shut." He gave a evil smile to Cameron.
"Listen here bum, we don't need you so back off." Cameron was still in his protective mode.
The man pulled out his cell phone and signaled him dialing 911, "Believe me I'll do it." He raised his eyebrows.
"Damn it!" Cameron stormed out of the store.
"Yes!" The register man cried out.
"But stay away from my boyfriend." Cameron had turned around and pointed his finger last my face and at the man.
"No problem bro." He smiled
"Let's go!" Cheyenne called from the car.
Cameron decided he would be the one to drive. He kept looking through the rear view mirror at the man. The car ride was pretty much silent until Cheyenne asked the question non of us had the idea to ask.
"Where are we going exactly?"
"I don't know." Cameron looked off as if he never thought about the question.
"I know a pla-" the register guy spoke up before Cameron cut him off.
"Shut up."
"Don't be rude babe." I lightly smacked his thigh, "What's your name?" I looked back at the man.
The register man began to speak up again, "I know a place we could go...if your trying to get out of town, and I believe I asked you first." He smiled.
"My names Brian."
"Greg."
"Where is out of town?" I asked.
"Nevada. Las Vegas specifically. My uncle owns a casino there that had a nice hotel. He'd let us stay for free."
"Jesus that's far from here."
"I think it's a great idea though." Cameron began to lighten up, "It will keep us safe for a while."
I watched as Cameron began setting his gps for Las Vegas just as Cheyenne spoke up, "I have one request before we leave town."
"What's that?" Cameron looked at her in the mirror.
"There's this girl at my school Gwen Holden, she picks on me everyday and I'm sick and tired of it. Bitch needs to get what coming for her." She pulled the fireworks out of the bag she was holding.
