I watched in shock and Cameron repeatedly tried to pull Greg out of the burning car. The flames looked a dark blue towards the inside of the car and faded into a a light orangish yellow color. The heat was immense and you could feel it even from as far back as I was standing. Cameron tugged and tugged at Greg's body, which finally came out after one final tug.
Greg's body was covered in flames as he ran over to the grass and without hesitation began to roll around to stop the burning. It seemed he was rolling faster than the car was moving before it crashed. His cried were anguished and even though most of the flames were going away, it hadn't hushed his screaming. His skin was just about completely black and had a small coat of burned blood. It smelled like burt hair and gasoline all over which happened to remind me that the money was still in the trunk.
I rushed over and lifted up the truck door, which already happened to be halfway bent off and grabbed the burning duffle bags. I threw them in the grass and began to jump on them and roll them around. Cameron came over and began to help me by grabbing one of the bags and throwing his entire body on it, immediately stopping the fire spread. I then got the idea to do the same.
I unzipped the money bag I had put out of flames and checked to see if the money was damaged. I was surprised to see that the damage wasn't as bad as it had looked to be from the outside. Most of the money was still in tact and the only part that had burned was the top layer.
Cameron nodded towards me telling me that the money was okay just as Greg stopped screaming and finally spoke, "You." He grunted in my direction, "This is all because of you!"
Cameron threw one of the hardest punches I had ever seen right at Greg's far stopping him from attacking me. I began to think my senses were a bit off because I didn't even sense his attack until Cameron had already punched him in the face.
"What happened in the car could not be helped. If it was anyones fault it was yours for opening your mouth to begin with." There was a pause in Cameron's speech, "Attack him again like that, and I'll make your death look like a suicide. Got it?"
Greg only grunted as he stared down Cameron in the eyes. He eventually looked down to the ground covering his nose with his burt hands, "Yes." I watched as he submit to my boyfriends authority.
"What are we suppose to do?" I began to speak up to fill the silence and to get Greg's awkward submission scene over with.
"I have yet to figure that out babe." Cameron walked over to me quickly and embraced my body with his arms.
He forced my head into his chest and gave me no choice but to listen to his heart beat. I wasn't calm like it always used to be, the beats were short and frantic. I could tell that he was scared without him even showing it. Of course he wouldn't show it because he feels he has to be the man of the situation were in.
"Your sister?" Greg broke me and Cameron's love moment.
I recalled pulling her out and quickly pulled from Cameron's arms and ran over to her, dropping onto my knees. I studied her lifeless bloody face. It seemed she hit her head on the back of the seat I was sitting in. I gently ripped it off with my thumb and began to feel tears well up behind my eyes.
"I told myself I would let anything happen to her." Tears began to spill all into the grass, "She's probably going to hate me forever."
Just as I let my head fall to the grass greg came over a held his fingers down on her neck, "Well, she has a pulse so what doesn't kill her will make her stronger."
"She's alive?" I wiped the term from my ignorant eyes.
Greg nodded as I ran over to him giving him one of the biggest hugs a person could give. I felt like he had given me so much hope and happiness. His chest told me all the answers I wanted to hear about my sister. I was just so excited that she wasn't dead because I wouldn't have been able to leave this earth peacefully if she was. For some reason I thought fait would make me stay alive and deal with that burden.
I assumed we had been hugging a bit too long because Cameron who wasn't happy watching got pretty reckless when tugging us apart. I forgot that Cameron was the jealous type, but that didn't mean he had to ruin my moment. It wasn't anything more than a thank you.
"We need to start traveling because it's not like we can call someone." Cameron shuffled his way through the dead grass and over to my sister. The flaming car had finally died down somewhat, but was still pretty bad. I watched as he hoisted my sisters unconscious body over his shoulders.
We began walking in the direction we were headed in the car. It was all we could do in fact, because we were fugitives. We were wanted and I liked the sound of it for some reason. Before I die I'm going to be on Americas T.V's and it brings the most peaceful feeling to my heart. I'm aiming to get what everyone wants, and thats to be remembered. People will remember me as the boy who had cancer who robbed a bank, killed people, and kidnapped his sister all because of it.
Like always there was that doubt in me that wanted to turn back time and go home and see my mother once more before I die. Not have to worry about the police trying to find me, and not have my sister unconscious and possibly hurt badly from this car crash.
"How far out do you think we are?" Cameron spoke back to me and Greg expecting one of us to answer.
"Were about two hours worth of walking distance until we get to a mile marker." Greg called up Cameron.
I noticed his burned skin as he was talking. His clothes were just about all burned off, but his skin was burned beyond compare. His face was also burned but not as much as his limbs. Every inch of his body was covered in blood from his skin but none leaking because all the cuts ha been cauterized.
I felt a little itch in my nose and realized that the nose bleeding was happening again. I decided not to tell anyone ahead of me about it because my nose bleed before had already caused enough problems for us.
I used my shirt to wipe the constant blood dripping off of my face. I tried to sniff in but this only helped for minute because The blood would eventually come back down twice as fast as before.
I began to cry again because I knew my time was coming, and I didn't know when it was. It was like waiting for a big tests results, waiting to see if someone survived a surgery in the emergency room. I tried to keep my moans and groans silent because I knew this night would be long and possibly for me, fatal.
