Chapter 20

-Abby-

It was a sunny day of school. I was a stay-at-home wife so I pretty much read all day or go for a run or something.

It was 4:30pm, the kids should arrive soon.

a couple of minutes later, the door opens to reveal Lucie,Benjamin and Luke.

"Mommy!" Lucie screams jumping in my arms.

Lucie was a pretty hyper kid when she wanted to. Sometimes she would be really shy and some others she would be as excited as a kid on christmas.

Ben on the other side was just like his father. He was shy and awkward, basically a copy of Luke besides his brown hair. He loved music and played guitar.

"Kids supper's ready!" I scream putting the plates full of spaghetti on the table.

They all rush downstairs and sit at the table.

We all start to eat. "So, how was school?" I ask like every other supper.

"School was school." answers Ben. I chuckle.

"school was awesome!" Lucie says. "Guess what mommy?"

"hmmm,you had an A in math?" I ask even though I knew this wasn't it.

"I have a boyfriend!" she says proudly.

I look over to Luke and see his face turning red. Anger was boiling inside him. He probably was scared about his little girl growing up even though she was too young to have a real boyfriend.

"that's amazing babygirl!" I say laughing a little.

"his name is Nathan. He is so sweet!" She says.

"maybe we could bring him over for a playdate this weekend." I suggest.

I could see Luke shooking his head in the corner of my eye.

He clearly didn't like the idea of his baby "Growing up".

"come on Luke. You know it's not a serious realtionship! She's five!"

"I know but it makes me think of when she'll have a real boyfriend and she'll get older and she won't be needing me anymore because I won't be the only men in her life anymore." He says with tears in his eyes.

I take his face in my hands and kiss him gently. "Don't overthink too much okay?" He nods and we go to bed.

It was the weekend and Nathan was coming over today.

I walk downstairs and see Lucie constantly looking in the window to see if he's here.

"Now Lucie promise me you won't do anything nasty." knowing she wouldn't understand.

"don't be silly daddy! I won't kiss him on the cheek in front of you I promise!" she says not realising what she had just said.

"But you did kiss him on the cheek before?" I ask but she didn't respond because we were cut by a knocking on the door.
