Mystique's POV

"Happy 8th Birthday Mystique!" My family exclaimed. I just hit 8 years old but I didn't really want a big party for my birthday. I actually just wanted to eat my cake and play Assassin Creed with my older brother Jace, so I put on a pantomime to show I cared. Jace is 3 years older than me and is 4'11. He has Dirty blonde hair that is spiked to the right side of his face. His eyes are the same color as icy blue and he has a perfect smile. Haha, I think good looks run in the family.

After my party, Jace and I went to go watch fighting movies in the small gym room. I kinda enjoyed watching these movies because there was violence involved and I like hitting things. Jace on the other hand loves it. He always jumps up and pretend he's punching someone and knocking them out.

"Come on Mystique, one round!" Jace said.

"Alright fine, loser cleans the winner's room for a week" I challenged.

He looked at me with a challenging stare and then agreed to the deal. We both picked up some boxing gloves and strapped them onto our hands. My favorite color is blue so my gloves were all white with my named painted blue in fancy cursive writing. Jace's gloves were black with some weird shaped drawing on it. I think he called it "Tribal".
I don't know. I just know it looks weird.

"Okay Jace, get ready for this butt kicking" I said. He just laughed at me and then we bumped fist like the boxers do before fighting. Jace went for the first hit but he missed because I ran behind him and jumped onto his back like a crazy monkey.

"Hey! I didn't know mom raised a monkey" he laughed out. I soon began to see the floor coming closer and closer because Jace was throwing me off his back. Instead of falling off I griped onto his leg instead and told him to give up. Jace looked at me crazy like wtf you mean give up. So I bit his leg and he yelped in pain.

"Haha I win and you have to clean my room" I bragged with sass.

"No fair you bit my leg. It's okay though, I'm going to get you when you least expect it." he said with a very suspicious tone in his voice. I was debating on whether I should be scared or should I just brush off his threat. I don't care though. I'm just glad that I'm not the one that's going to be cleaning two rooms for a week.

The Next Day

Jace's POV

I'm so glad It's summer time. Now I get to finally sign up for that kickboxing class that I been seeing on TV. I bet once I get started I'm gonna become the best in there and maybe even the next Muhammad Ali. First thing first though, I have to convince my mom to let me go. Every time I thought about asking, it was never a good time. She was always either working or just wanted to get sleep. Yesterday morning before my sister's party, I overheard my mom talking to, who I think was her boss, about a couple days off from work. I told my best friend Jordan what I heard and then told him that he should try to join the class with me. Of course, he was all hyped about it because he's been wanting to find a new activity for the summer.

I wonder if Jordan is going to join for real or -- My thoughts happened to be cut short by the sound of my squeaky door opening. My little annoying sister happened to walk into my room.

"Someone's at the door for you" she said. I looked puzzled wondering who would be here for me.

"Uhh.. did you see who it was?"

"No I was too lazy to see but mom told me to get you"

I jumped off my bed, ran to the hallway, and slid down the side handle of the stairs . And to my surprise I see a boy about my height with a lot of curly hair.

"Jace! Surprised to see me? I just moved in a few houses down." Jordan said with such enthusiasm

"Dude when did you get here??" I asked half excited and concerned.

" Two days ago."

"Come up to my room so we can catch up with each other after two months."

We both went up to my room and Mystique followed behind us. We sat for about 2 hours talking, playing games, laughing, and also more talking about boxing.

"So, did you ask your mom yet" he asked.

"No but I'm going to ask her tonight so then when she say yes we can go tomorrow."

"Okay cool. I'm going home now so I will see you tomorrow." Jordan waved and said his goodbyes.

~8:00 pm~

I found my mom in the living room watching TV. Looks like a new episode of The Walking Dead.

"Hey mom, I have a question."

"Hush boy, can't you see I'm busy" she said with a bitter tone.

"Um, c-can I join the boxing class with Jordan tomorrow?" I asked reluctantly.

"Yeah yeah yeah. Just take you sister with you. And don't bother me while I'm watching my show" she said her sentence really fast trying not to miss a detail in the show.

"But mom-" she put her hand me and motioned me to leave... I guess I'm forced to take my sister with me to the class even though she's going to end up being in the way. Girls aren't supposed to do this sport any ways..
