The Boy Who Went Back

Hours Earlier.

Exiting The Motel was easier said than done. HYDRA's men had the place surrounded. Areabella feared that she would never leave the hellish place.

"Wait here." Bucky hissed as he calmly left the room and disappeard down the hallway. "I'm going to get you out."

Suddenly the fire alarm sounded and she noticed the amber glow down the hall where Bucky was!

Immediately she assumed that something awful has happened to her rescuer but then she noticed a figure running towards her, screaming "Run!"

Without hesitation, Arrabella followed the brunette's commamd running through a fire exit, at the back of The Motel. Ahead of her, she spied a silver jeep.

"Get in there and lock the doors, okay? I've got to go back and get Pietro. If I'm not back in one minute, drive."

She merely nodded and continued running to the said car.

She hoped that the doors are unlocked because looking for something to smash the window with would waste time. She attempted to try the nearest handle. Nothing, it didn't budge.

Next, it's the second door. It opened easily with a quiet pop. If Arrabella hadn't been in the process of fleeing for her life, she'd have cheered for joy.

Bucky's POV.

I run back into the motel room. That's when I see his still body. Pietro.

I don't even need to check his pulse to know that he's dead. The blood that drips from the body is enough confirmation of my worst fear. His eyes glare unseeing at the ceiling above.

I reach across, not caring that his blood stains my clothing and close his eyes out of respect. "I'm sorry." I whisper.

XOX

Arrabella's POV.

We're driving in silence, Bucky in the driver's seat.

I killed him. I killed Pietro. It's all mine and HYDRA's fault. I feel numb about it.

The rain has begun to pour from the skies again. The open road is a dangerous place to be when you need to hide. Unfortunately, this is the only one route back to the Towers.

His body is lying across the back seat of the jeep. I haven't dared look at his body, I think I might spiral into a violent panic attack if I do.

So now it is just him and I.

I want to say something, to apologise for what I've done until I can say 'I'm sorry' no more but where do I begin? I can hardly believe what has happened. I hate myself for what I've done. I...I...

...I murdered the man I love.

"Are you okay?" Bucky's question interrupts my thoughts.

I nod.

"Good," he sighs. "Arrabella-"

"Bucky, I really do not want to talk right now."

No, I just want to wallow in my self-loathing thoughts.

"I'm-"

"I know you're sorry for my loss. Okay? I know."

He still just wants to console me. "Bella-"

I sigh in exasperation. "I know Pitero was a good person. He was freaking amazing and so, so good. Too good to have gotten involved with me. Damn it, Bucks, I know! It's all my fault that he's gone and now we're driving back to the Towers, with his body in the back. In around an hours time, one of us is going to have to tell Wanda Maximoff that her twin is dead and that I killed him. Yes, me. The girl he loved. The girl who is such a freaking...freaking..."

I dissolve into a sobbing wreck.

Bucky drives the car to the edge of the road and turns off the ignition.

Unclipping my seatbelt as well as his, he pulls me into his arms and allows me to cry into his t-shirt. "HYDRA is a freaking mofo." I gasp in between sobs. He 'hmms' in agreeance.

He just holds me whilst I scream

"I'm...I'm gonna get you out of this." he eventually whispers, once I've calmed down. "I couldn't save Pietro but I can save you. I promise, I'm going to help you."
