A/N: Question of the Day is at the end of the chapter!

Bucky was sat in the hospital cafe, cradling a cold cup of coffee (milk, two sugars), staring mournfully at it's undrinkable contents.

He was thinking about his and Steve's last conversation.

Why did he always have to act like such a martyr? How could he have been so filipant about his safety? Steve truly didn't realise how many people he hurt when he was so reckless.

Whenever Bucky tried to sleep and get respite from the ghosts that haunted him during the day, his mind would always transport him to happier times in his life, all of which contained a pre-serum Steve.

Suddenly Coldplay filled the air, Bucky was receiving a call. He picked up his iPhone off of the table, the caller I.D. read:

INCOMING CALL: UNKNOWN

He answered the call. "Hello?"

"Bucky?" the voice at the end of the line was faint but recognisable.

Bucky could sense something was wrong. "Arrabella?"

"I'm in big trouble." she gasped, obviously distressed.

Whilst on the phone, Bucky was already making his way out of the cafe. "Where are you?"

"I'm at a place called The Motel," her voice broke. Sebastian could tell that she was crying. "I'm in trouble."

He ran to his car, unlocking it. "I'll be there as quickly as I can, just hang in there okay?"

"Okay." she paused. "You're not freaking out that I'm alive."

"I know too many people who have "died", so I'm not really surprised."

"I've done something really bad."

"Naturally." he replied dryly. "On behalf of HYDRA no doubt."

"They made me...they made me do it. I didn't want to, I swear. Please believe me. I never wanted any of this. I never wanted...wanted...Please hurry, Rumlow...he's going to be here soon to collect me. He's bringing Ward too. I can't go back with them. I can't!"

"I'm already on my way."

"It's all my fault, I didn't fight them. I should have...I shouldn't have...it's all my fault. I failed him. I should have just called you instead of...It was the brainwashing, I swear! It made me...it made me...as soon as I...it stopped. I would never..."

Bucky held the phone tightly in his hand, his eyes burning bright. "You listen to me, Arrabella, you have nothing and I mean nothing to apologise for. I used to be just like you. I kniw exactly what you're going through. I'm going to help you, okay. You can trust me."

"I killed him, Bucky." she sobbed. "He's dead."

"Who...who did you kill, Bells?"

"Pietro, I killed Pietro."
