*Caroline's POV*
We woke up the next morning in our warm bed. I rolled over and looked at Nash.
"Today is the day we start looking for your mother," I said. I remembered about work, they were very lenient there and I had 40 sick days saved up, so a few days off was fine. I'm not actually sure how long this will take, but hopefully we will find something out soon enough.
"My mom was a very mysterious person. She left us a few times before this, only for a day or two at a time, but she always left something. A hint or note to where she was," Nash told me. "So I think we should start by looking around my house for something. But trust me, it's nothing obvious because I've searched the house."
We got dressed and got in the car. We decided that since no one will be living in the house anymore we might as well start packing some things up. Nash isn't selling the house, because if we do find his mom, he wants to live there with her.
*Nash's POV*
I walked in the front door. It's weird walking in the house to no one. Gram is always there, but now she's in the nursing home. There was an eerie silence, but Caroline was with me so I didn't feel alone.
"I'll start here, you can start in the kitchen," I told her.
I started taking things down off the walls, like pictures, so they weren't up while no one lived here. That would be kinda creepy. I put the frames in boxes and checked behind the frames just to make sure nothing was behind them. I looked in between couch cushions, pillows and vases, but found nothing.
I had a feeling that my mom left something. She wouldn't leave me for no reason or with no warning. I just know, I can feel it.
*Caroline's POV*
I've been in Nash's kitchen for 3 hours because I've been looking in literally every cup, cupboard, and in between plates for anything. A sign, a note, anything. Nothing.
Nash walked into the room and asked, "Any luck?"
"Nope," I told him. "But I'm not done looking in this room. And we still have the whole house to look in."
"I know. Let's come back tomorrow. I think I've had enough for one day," he said, seeming exhausted.
We headed home. Day 1 was not a complete failure, because, hey, now we know where not to look.
