Chapter 4

- dippers POV -
As we walked back to the shack, I walked a little behind. Watching her (h/l), (h/c) flow behind her, her eyes sparkling. We eventually reached the shack. "Ladies first" I said, holding the door open for her. "T-thanks" she said, giggling. "OMG WHERE WERE YOU GUYS?! YOU'VE BOTH BEEN GONE FOR 2 HOURS!!" Mabel shouted, lunging towards me, sending me tumbling towards the ground. "Just reading, geez Mabel. We read mysteries and adventure genres, no biggie" I snarked, Mabel sometimes needs to leave me alone.

'Dududdu.. But the queen has been over thrown' you hummed, walking up the stairs and heading to your new room. You were going to do what you have always done when stress was taking over; having an emergency party. You would have these with your mum, your mum was like a best friend to you. Yet you guys have grown apart these later years in your life. Putting on 'lights' by Ellie Goulding, you started to sing.. Your voice drifting through the gap in-between the door and door frame, your voice carrying off through the mystery shack. You dance to the beat, feeling the tension in your muscles disappearing. Once that finished you started to play one of your ultimate favourites, a song that mattered to you; 'Teddy Bear' by Melanie Martinez. Her whole album was amazing, you adored every song; but this song meant the most to you. "Everything was so sweet, until you tried to kill me. La, Lala, lalala" you sang the lyrics with all of your heart. Every word, every beat, was surrounding you, engulfing you in its comforting sounds. The song started to end, you smiled, turned the music down and sat down. Today was a stressful day, and that's exactly what you needed. "You alright up here?" You heard a squeaky voice; dippers. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just had an emergency dance party" you replied, smiling and getting up to open the door. You opened it, seeing a nervous dipper. "A-alright, I'll be in my room, tell me if you need anything" he mumbled, quickly shuffling to his room. 'That's so adorable how much he cares' you thought, smiling. 'W-wait... Wait a holding fricken minute... I only just met him' a slightly worried look washed over your face. 'CURSE MY OVER-SIZED HEART' you yelled in your mind. 'I can't, I can't trust him, I can't trust her. I can't trust anyone... TRUST NO ONE' you have been betrayed so many times, hurt and bullied and discarded. You wouldn't let it happen again.
