Animal Magnetism // Ready To Run (DEREK HALE Fan-fiction)

•Day 4•

"We'll stop here for tonight" Derek said as we drop our belongings. I'm not even slightly tired, it must be my supernatural werewolf powers...so cliche...hmm.

"Ugh I need to sit down" Becky announces and sits on a tree log. "Thank god" she sighs in relief and I giggle.

"I'll go collect wood" Aaron said walking off into the forest.

"I'll come" Aidan comments and follows Aaron. I watch as their bodies disappear in the darkness. I glance over to Derek and he takes a seat next to me.

"How do you think Becky is taking this?" He whispers.

"I think she's taking it...well?" Derek nods.

"And you?" He asks placing a hand on my back. I gulp down, Derek hasn't really been...sympathetic to me. So his body language means a lot.

"I've been better" I admit and he rubs my back for comfort.

"You'll be fine, I'm not going anywhere and neither is Aaron and Becky. We're all here for you and Aidan on the other hand...I don't care about" Derek announces and smile at him with a slight chuckle.

Aaron and Aidan return with bundles of wood, I watch as they place it in the centre of our camping land. This is so new to me, away from home, being independent, leaning a new lifestyle and soon going to face my killer. As scary it may seem, I'm looking forward to knowing different abilities and skills I never would have known before.

"Mila do you want to go hunting with me?" Derek out of the ordinary asks me.

"Umm..how? I don't know what to do?" I honestly say.

"I'll teach you, let's go" he directs me into the woods. Last time I visited these trees was when I admired its beauty. But now, it feels like a haunted and cursed part of my life that I don't want to even think about.

"Uh I'm not sure about this Derek" I say and stop in the middle of our path.

"Mila, you'll be fine. Besides you need to learn these things" he says and continues to walk.

We soon came to a stop and Derek pushes my to a crouched position. And places his finger on his lips imitating to be quiet. I nod and watch his every move. Derek sprints out of the bush with a flash giving me a fright. I them hear him call me so I follow his voice.

I see him on the ground with blood all over his hands. He caught our meal. I flinched and looked away from the sight of the animal and Derek. I cover my eyes and begin to walk in the opposite direction.

"You okay Mila?" He asks behind me.

"Yeah but if your not careful I'm going to throw up" I say while gagging. I could here a giggle and snort come out of him. I hear the moving of leaves on the ground assuming Derek is picking up our dinner for tonight and carrying back to the campsite.

He tails behind me but doesn't say anything.

We arrive back at the campsite and everyone accept Becky and I were horrified and the dead animals body.

"Ugh I'm going to puke!" She squeals and hides behind me.

"You me both" I comment on agreement.

I managed to get my dinner down but it took a lot of guts...literally, to get over it.

Aidan sits beside me and cockily smiles. I immediately felt uncomfortable and Derek managed to see that.

"So I heard about your journey of becoming a werewolf" he says while playing with a stick in his hand. I look over to Becky and Aaron who were getting along so well. And Derek who's eyes would not remove from Aidan.

"Yeah" I simply say ignoring and eye contact.

"Do you miss being human?" Aidan asks and I gulp down heavily.

"That's enough" Derek interrupted while standing up.

"No it's fine" I say wanting Derek to here my answer. He manages to slowly sit back down, but continuing his death stare.

"Yeah I do. Enormously. I mostly miss the feeling of being normal. The fact that everything changed within split seconds. Turned my world completely upside down. But, the bite is a gift and I have come to accept that" I somewhat lie and look to the ground.

"Good answer" Aidan nods his head. He removes his body from next to me and lays down on the ground metres away from us.

I look to see Derek and his stare drops. I guess hearing my answer gave him an entire different vision about me. He now knows I miss being a human and that to me, the bite is a curse not a gift.

For the rest of the night, Derek and I did not talk. Instead we sat in silence till everyone fell asleep.

Slow writing process I know. I decided to unpublished them all and then repost them...confusing I know. Sorry.

This chapter was so awkward to write but there will be much more action to come!!
