Chapter 2

Lucas's PoV
It's Friday !
My favourite day of the week.
Riley and I watch cuddle bunnies on Fridays at 7:00pm after school,
I normally walk home with her and we just hang out till then.
Well tonight is a 3 part cuddle bunny special it's goes on all night and Riley and I intend to watch it.
The best part is that we talk to eachother like how she talks to Maya I wish I could say the same about Maya and I but we don't have anything special.
I once brought up my relationship with Maya before and Riley kinda seemed sad but I never really thought anything of it because we're brother and sister to her now not to me and I never brought it up again.
I still have hope for Riley and I, Maya has become more close with farkle now and I really don't mind cause I'm doing the same with Riley, I hope Maya and farkle get together because I really wanna end it with Maya but Riley wants us together so until Riley changes her mind about the whole "brother sister " thing I will wait for her.
I will always wait for her because it's always been Riley.

No ones PoV
The whole gang were in history last class of the day with Mr Matthews.
*class time *
"Sense and sensibility, one of my favourite books." Mr Matthews said standing in front of the class holding the book.
"I thought your favourite book was our town?" Maya said trying to be smart. She smirked
"That's a play Maya." Farkle said smirking. Then high fiveing mr Matthews.
"Okay fine I won't try and be smart again jeez..." She trailed off rolling her eyes.
"Okay then back to sense and sensibility one of my favourite books!" He says emphasising the word book and smirking at Maya.
She smirks back.
"Uhh wait a minute he's teaching English now" zay says annoyance in his voice.
"He doesn't even know what he teaches" Riley points out.
Cory tries to argue but closes his mouth in realisation that she's right.
"She's got a point" he mumbles.
"What's the book Gotta do with our lives Matthews?" Maya points out
"I've been watching you guys for the past few weeks so you figure it out " he says then smirks.
"Ughhhh" the whole class moans and groans except Farkle who says "yaaaay".
"Oh too bad on you" Cory teases the directs his attention back towards the book.
"Now sense and sensibility what's the most important word in the title" he says then slaps the book cover.
"Sense" Riley whispers and looks up at him
"Sensibility" Maya says in a questioning tone.
"girls what's the most important word in the title?" Cory says trying to give them a hint.
"Sense" Riley says a bit more confident.
"sensibility!"Maya says louder.
"sense!!" Riley says louder and more stern
"sensibility!!"Maya says even louder.
"se.."Riley is cut off by Farkle.
" AND!!" Farkle shouts annoyed and stands up.
"Sense AND sensibility! "He says putting emphasis on 'and'
"Head and heart ..you Gotta use both."he says in a quieter voice while sitting dow.
"very good farkle"Cory smirks impressed.
"what's that got to do with our lives Matthews?"Maya asks confused.
"ask Riley ?"Farkle states gesturing to Riley.
"farkle stop!"Riley shouts nervously as she quickly turns around in her chair to face him.
"You know I'm right !"Farkle points out teasingly angry.
"right about what? "Lucas asks looking confused at the pair.
"NOTHING!"Riley shouts standing up from her chair.
"Riley your gonna have to ..mmhmhm" Farkle says but doesn't finish because Riley lunges forward and puts her hand over his mouth.
"farkle a word please "Riley says sweetly pulling Farkle out of the class and closes the door before realising her hold over his mouth.
"farkle please okay I will tell them but not now not today okay !"Riley pleads, tears brining the surface of her eyes.
"Riley this is killing you in the inside seeing them together! " farkle states angrily.
"farkle I'm fine !"Riley says while her voice cracks.
She wipes her tears and puts on a smile.
"Riley I haven't seen you smile properly in weeks and you are everybody's ray of sunshine.... and do you know who brings that out in you!"he says teasingly stating the obvious.
"Maya?"Riley states innocently.
"LUCAS !!"Farkle screams before continuing his rant.
"He's always made you happy and you gave him up for Maya, Riley I know you'd do anything for your friends but just because Maya had some feelings for him you gave him up?"Farkle questions while looking at the heartbroken Riley standing in front of him staring at the floor.
"Riley we are in the 9th grade now we're growing up and you have to as well!"Farkle says then grabs Riley by the shoulders making him look at him.
"Lucas and Maya aren't a good match, Lucas never talks to me about his dates with Maya because they rarely happen anymore but do you know who he does talk about ?" Farkle says sweetly
"no ?" Riley says while her voice cracks from crying.
"YOU !!" Farkle blasts out shaking her shoulders.
"He told me this morning how excited he was for tonight something about a cuddle bunnies marathon or something? " farkle questions looking for an answer.
Riley wipes her tears again and takes a deep breath .
"yeah Lucas and I watch cuddle bunnies on Fridays at 7:00" she says then smiles a smile so bright that even the sun would envy it.
"Riley ...you just smiled and actual smile can't you see Lucas makes you happy and you make Lucas happy!" Farkle says whilst shaking Riley. He was also over joyed that she actually smiled.
"Farkle.." She trails off because her voice just cracked, she takes a deep breath in again and continues. "Lucas likes Maya now NOT me ...it was never me okay that's the way it's meant to be Maya is happy and I would sacrifice everything and anyone to make her happy she's my best friend....no my sister and that's the way it's meant to be, I'm sorry if you don't agree with that farkle!" Riley states then walks back into class and as she's closing the door Farkle screams.
"you can't keep lying Riley!"
She slams the door quickly before Farkle can say anything else and she looked like a deer in head lights. She threw a forced smile at the class and quickly sat down, she then noticed eveybody was staring at her.
"what are you all staring at ?"she questions turning around.
"riles what farkle talking about ?" Maya says with worry.
"yeah riles are you okay ? "Lucas asks with the same amount of concern.
"yeah I'm fine completely I'm .....just a little Tired that's all" she says then turns around letting tears silently fall.
She hears Farkle huff and walk back into the class.
"you have until New Years Riley!"
Farkle threatens at her softly and sits back down in his seat.
Riley wiped her tears and cleared her throat turning around in her seat to face Farkle...again.
"farkle that's in a month! I just need a little more time!" She pleads desperation evident in her voice.
"a little more time for what ?" Lucas questions sitting forward.
"nothing can we please just go back to the lesson!" Riley screams quickly then tries to change the subject.
Nobody objects.
" ummm okay class sense and sensibility head and heart sometimes you do something because you feel it's the right thing to do even if in your heart you know it's wrong...and sometimes it's the opposite way around you do something because In your head you know it's wrong but you do it because you feel if it's right even if it's not!
Hand up if you listen to you head?" He questions curiously.
Riley farkle and a few other people put their hand up.
"Hands up if you listen to your heart"he questions for the vice versa side of his argument.
Maya, Lucas  and a few other people put their hands up.
"Maya why do you listen to your heart first?" He questions standing in front of Maya.
"I dunno if I feel something I just go for it without thinking it through in my head like people say the heart wants what the heart wants" she says confidently and leans back in her chair.
"Umm okay Maya I can see where your coming from but what if you thought it through your head and your heart would it feel any different ?" He questions curiously wanting to figure Maya out.
" I never usually think stuff through that's why I have Riley" she says very cool then gestures to Riley with her out stretched hand.
"yeah I think things through Maya just be's who she wants to be" Riley says very sadly, but nobody notices...besides Farkle.
"we're a duet!" The say In unison.
They look over at eachother smile stand up and connect their hands.
"RINGPOWER"Maya shouts
"RINGPOWER"Riley shouts
"THUNDER"Maya shouts with joy
"LIGHTNING"Riley shouts cheerily.
"together" Riley states with passion.
"forever and" Maya says with passion
"always" they say in unsion then hug.
Cory laughs at the cuteness of the girls
"okay girls so Riley is sense and Maya is sensibility? " he answers understanding their relationship.
"Yup" they say in unison then break away from the hug laughing and sit down.
"sooooo Riley and Farkle are sense and Maya and lucas are sensibility ?"zay says observing the scene.
"what do you mean zay?" Lucas says confused.
"well Lucas you always put your friends first and I never thought I'd find anybody like that but then I met Riley and she's just like you she'd do anything for her friends even if it means giving up her own happiness just like you!" Zay says with humour.
"what do you mean just like him?" Maya says suspiciously
"NOTHING!"Lucas screams trying to shut zay up.
"wouldn't it be funny if you and Riley had the Same thing going on at the moment" zay says laughing.
"zay what do you mean ?" Maya says trying to figure out what zay is saying.
"zay can I please talk to you outside like NOW" Lucas demands trying to get out of this situation.
"Lucas no more interruptions to class this can be discussed after school!" Cory states Turing the boys around back to their seats.
"then tell zay to shut up! " Lucas shouts to Cory clearly annoyed.
"I'll be quiet yeeeshh" zay says putting his hands up I defence.
After the class settles down Cory begins to speak again.
"okay so class I would like u all to ponder on what we have been talking about today in class
Take a piece of paper and write down something you thought was a right choice when you listened to your head or heart that may not have been a right choice now this will be due in 7 days " he says then gets paper from under his desk and starts to pass it around.
"dad you could just say a week you know that right" Riley states then laughs at her father stupidty.
"I'm only saying 7 days because that's all I've left with you" he says sadly then frowns.
Zay raises his hand "umm why do you say that Mr teach?"
Mr Matthews frowns at the way zay called on him so Lucas decides to alaborate.
"because Riley's 16th birthday is in 7 days" he states and chuckles.
" And Mr Matthews over here believes he will lose the sunshiny happy little goof ball that is...." Gestures toward Riley that is overjoyed at the thought of her birthday.
"MEEEEEE" Riley sings while she shakes her hands in the air clearly excited smiling like a goofball.
Lucas stares at her lovingly with chuckling at her cuteness.
Zay and farkle notice this
And unfortunately so does Maya...
Maya raises her hand
"Mr Matthews ?" She questions
" Yes Ms hart ?" He answers
" I think I might start listening to my head some time" she says very quietly.
"oh really why now ?" He questions her while smirking.
"I-i thinks I've made some mistakes I need to fix that's all!" She stutters
"I need to talk to you all after school today ,Topangas? " she questions her group of friends after turning in her chair to face them.
"Maya can it wait Riley and I have to watch cu........ A TV show at 7:00" Lucas says then chuckles nervously.
Maya feeling some what mean decides to take advantage of the situation.
"what TV show huckleberry ?" She teases then smirks Evilly.
"ohhhhh nothing embarrassing hahaha" he laughs then scoffs
"ohhhhhhhh okay huckleberry so Saturday then you's aren't watching cuddle bunnies then are you??"she says teasingly mean. The whole class begins to laugh pointing and whispering about Lucas.
"MAYAAA!! "Riley and Lucas shout in anger and disappointment.
"Maya why'd you do that ?" Riley asked clearly shocked as to why Maya just did something so mean.
"thanks a lot maya !" Lucas scoffs disappointed and embaressed as he hides his face from the laughing class.
"Just because we couldn't come to topangas after school you didn't have to be so mean !" Lucas says clearly jury from Maya's actions.
The bell rings and Lucas storms out of the class before anybody can talk to him.
As Riley is packing up her stuff Maya approaches her.
"riles can you tell huckleberry I'm sorry " Maya Says still lightly chuckling over the event.
"yeah okay Maya but that was a bit mean why'd you even say that ?" Riley says nervously.
"I dunno I felt kinda jealous?" Maya states like it was nothing.
"Maya Lucas always comes over to watch cuddle bunnies on a Friday you know that we've been doing it for the last 3 years now why are acting all jealous now?" Riley asks confused and hurt that her best friend feels that way.
"we're brother and sister and you guys are Boyfriend and girlfriend ?" Riley says Trying not to cringe at them words.
"I dunno something just sprung ? " she says very laxy daisy like she didn't even care she just embaressed him in front of the whole class.
"okay well Maya just know that you guys are dating and Lucas and I are just best friends and brother and sister so you don't have to get all jealous." She says trying to re assure Maya.
"well like I just felt like I should be the one watching it with him that's all" Maya says then looks down at the floor.
This was gonna kill Riley...one of the only times she ever gets to really spend with Lucas she was about to give up...'I already gave Lucas to her is she trying to take over everything I do with him now'. But no matter what Maya was her best friend and she always came first.
Riley took a deep breath in and continued.
"well he is your boyfriend so if you wanna watch it with him I don't mind." She managed to squeak out.
"REALLY AWHH THANKS RILES!" Maya said hugging her. Riley forces a smile.
" just ask Lucas first because I don't really think he's talking to you right now." She says then giggles.
"okay well I'll watch it with him next.....well actually I have to sort something's out on Saturday with you guys okay?" She questions.
"and by you guys you mean....?" Riley asks
"Lucas you farkle and zay?" Maya says listing out who she needed to talk to.
"okay well bye peaches Lucas is probably waiting for me" Riley smiles gives her a hug and leaves to go meet up with Lucas
"bye honey" Maya waves her away
"bye peaches" Riley does the same and walks to meet Lucas.

Lucas's PoV
I was walking back to Riley's house with Riley and I was still pissed with Maya...I don't know how much longer I'm gonna be able to keep up this act with Maya.
"I'm soooooooo excited for the finale tonight "she says jumping up and down while we're walking. "yeah me too sunshine " I chuckle and stare at her and then she turns around.
"Lucas!" She asks hesitantly.
"Yeah?" I answer
" ummm Maya told me to tell you she was sorry." She says and then looks at me apologetically.
"Oh well I'm not really mad anymore it's just she kinda surprised me I've never seen her being that mean!" I stated sounding hurt.
"yeah I know I've seen her being mean to people before but never her own boyfriend" Riley says sounding annoyed.
I instantly cringe at the word boyfriend because I don't see Maya that way.
"I wouldn't exactly call us boyfriend and girlfriend anymore riles"
She stops us walking and turns to face me.
"why ??" She asks
"well she's just been different and I kinda miss the old Maya you know the one who always made fun of me and made these little games that id always win because she'd never get to me " I laugh thinking of when times were better then continue my rant, "this new Maya doesn't really call me names anymore she calls me Lucas huckleberry and occasionally ranger Rick and flirts with me I don't like that" I stated sounding sad because I was in all seriousness.
"you don't ?" She acts surprised by my answer ."She's your girlfriend you're suppose to find it cute and funny when she does that " she shoved my shoulder and laughed.
It sounded a bit forced.
"well I don't and I never will!" I nearly screamed to get my point across. I instantly calmed myself down from the scared look on Riley's face.
"okay okay calm down cowboy" she says and laughs quietly.
"were here let's go up" she Says as we arrive at her fire escape.
We climb up through the fire escape because nobody's home yet.
When we reach the top Riley climb through bay window first.
"hoooooommmeeee " she drawls out while she runs, jumps and lays down horizontally on her bed with her head hanging of the side.
I run and instantly join her doing the same thing.
"so we gots 2 hours we can either A)watch some season 3to get us all riled up for season 4 " I say then laugh hysterically at that joke I make every time.
"Lucas you make that joke every week and if never gets funnier" she points out laughing with me.
" okay fine, or either B)chill out here and watch a movie or something because I'm so excited for this marathon tonight" I said sitting up and getting off the bed. In reality I was excited to spend time with Riley.
"yeah me tooooooahhhhhh" she says trying to sit up but falling off the bed in the process.
I heard a thud in the ground so I turned around and rolled on the bed coping Riley falling to the ground next to her with a thud.
"Hey there funny seeing you down here" I said as she rolled over to face me looking embaressed.
"yeah yeah I'm a klutz very funny cowboy" she says sounding amused and sad at the same time.
I stood offering my hand to her and said "your not a klutz you just have these long arms and legs that your not in very good control of yet" I chuckled sounding sympathetic.
She took my hand and said "I'm actually in very good control of my arms because I can do this "she pulls me back down to the ground as she stands up and I land on the ground with a thud.
"touché city girl touché " I said sounding out of breath because I just got winded by being thrown to the floor.
Riley and I sat talking for the next 2 hours
