"Brooklynn Davis?" the coach called from behind the table in the widely built gym. I stood and walked over to the table along with about seven other girls, four on each side of the net. Kennedy served the ball and it flew across the net speeding for me, I felt the ball hit my wrists as I smacked back to the other side of the net. After a couple of more hits everyone stopped and the coach called us over, "good job ladies I will call you if you made the team." She turned and walked away. We all changed back into our regular clothes and me and Kennedy walked outside towards my moms car. Me and Kennedy were best friends since first grade when she saved me from some fourth grader that tried to take my lunch money. My mom waved out of the car window "Hey girls!" she shouted, embarrassing me once again. "Hey Mrs. Davis!" Kennedy shouted back playing along "Kennedy don't encourage her" I whispered and we both giggled and walked to the car. I jumped in the backseat and Kennedy got in the front " So how were Volley ball try outs?" my mom asked as soon as we all got situated in our seat, "We will find out tonight" I smiled as I buckled my seat belt. "Kennedy there has been change of plans, you cant spend the night tonight" my mom frowned and Kennedy looked back at me "Well maybe another time" Kennedy shrugged. I sat there in silence, I knew why mom changed plans, she had news for me but I already knew. I found papers on her desk of a new bought house, we were moving to Sydney in a couple of days. I didn't want to! I loved Melbourne, it was my home. I couldn't stand the thought of leaving my home.... I finally spoke up "Mom I know what the news is already and since I do you should be letting me spend as much time with my friends as possible right now." I crossed my arms giving attitude. "Alright so I guess Kennedy is staying then?" She answered back looking through the rear view mirror at me. I quickly turned my head so I could break her gaze. We eventually arrive home and I grab my bag of clothes and rushed my way inside with Kennedy behind me. She knew I was angry, I mean what type of mom moves her child twelve hours away from her home town her senior year!? It's crazy I know but hopefully she will change her mind.
Me and Kennedy talked all night about my up coming move, we were both worried that we would drift apart and we would find new best friends, it was hard to think about. I couldn't stand the thought of moving away from home, it hurt my heart thinking about all of my friends I will be leaving. "Kennedy?" she looked up at me with kind eyes "Yes Brooke?" she replied almost immediately "I need to smoke...." I trailed off looking down "Brooklynn, you said you were trying to quit!" She exclaimed begging me not to even think about the action. "I know I am just really stressed and Kyle isn't here anymore so I can't ask him for anything, so those cancer sticks are the best I have!" Kyle is my ex boyfriend, he cheated on me with a girl named Rachel. Just the thought of her name made me cringe, I walked in on them in his bed. I have tried my best to forget, but it's hard, I gave him everything of me, and he just walked away. I felt terrible but I am doing okay, I know now that I can do better than some cheating scum like Kyle. I hope I will do okay moving, leaving is one of the hardest things for me and I am just walking away.I put my hands together, please let this be for the better, please. I prayed every night until the big move and then.... it was time.....
