"S-Shaun?" I stutter, stepping back. Danse grips my arms and pushes me forward slowly. I'm gasping as Shawn smirks with a glint in his eye.
"Yes, mother. I have survived that... Unfortunate incident. Only after minor radiation sickness and some bruises, I escaped. With help, of course." He nods at Danse, and Danse nods back. Danse's hands are cold, even through a layer of insulation. I'm gasping for breath. I forgot Shaun was INSIDE of the Institute. He wants revenge. I think.
I'm shivering wildly now. I'm drifting out of consciousness as Danse picks me up and smiles sadly.

Danse is smiling at me. A genuine, happy smile. He's reaching out to me and holding my hand. I remember that entire day. It started when I helped destroy the Institute. I walked all the way back to Listening Post Bravo, enormous smile plastered on my face. I walk up to Danse and he's seen the explosion. He's grinning, picking me up, and swinging me around.
Then, we were interrupted by a Paladin.
His voice boomed throughout, "Sentinel, why is Danse still alive? I thought he was exterminated."
I thought really quickly. "This isn't Danse. Does he really look like him?" Good thing he was wearing a suit and combed his hair differently, or else we'd might not be here today. The Paladin left without questioning me more.

I'm strapped to a chair. I struggle to escape, but I can't. I look around. Institute-like decor. Across from the table, Shaun is sitting, speaking to Danse. I pretend I'm sleeping.
"How long will my mother be out?" Shaun asks.
"I'm not sure. The Courser told me it depended on her weight. Are you sure this is the accurate way of dealing with this? After all, she may not have known you were in the building at the time. She was probably too focused on hacking into that terminal."
"I'm not sure. How do you people deal with problems?"
"Well, we kill whoever gives us problems."
"I'll stick with this way."
Danse stands up and lifts my head gently.
"Are you awake?" He asks me. I nod.
"Mother, I feel like you don't care about me."
"I've only known you the first year of your life, I don't even know you." I reply.
"Fair enough." Shaun takes out a remote. "M7-97. You know what to do."
"Yes, Father." he says in monotone. He walks out of the room and enters with Nate... Alive.
"Mother, this is B1-20. A synth of my Father. Memories and everything. He's basically an exact copy of Nate."
"Impossible!" I yell, clenching my fists. He looked exactly like Nate, except Nate didn't smile like that... And his eye color wasn't yellow.
B1-20 says, "Loading memories. Memories found. Sarah and I walk to the store for sugary treats. Sarah and I rush to the hospital for Shaun's birth-"
"No..." I say, growling. "Nate wasn't even there for Shawn's birth. He was stationed."
"Always persistent. B1-20, shut down and reset data drive. M7-97, start Institute memory wipe and regain memories with Sarah."
At this point I'm crying. B1-20 disappears and Danse was finished with the memory wipe and was distant.
Then I wake up.

Danse is sitting by the chair with a worried look on his face. I look around, seeing Righteous Authority laying on my lap. It was all a dream? I ask myself. I'm shaking wildly.
"Are you alright? I woke up to hear you screaming about Nate and Shaun," Danse says, obviously worried.
"It was only a nightmare?..." I ask, voice hoarse.
"I suppose so, but it took me a while to get in here. All of the doors were locked. Are you alright?" He said.
"Yes... I'm okay. Sorry for waking you up," I say, nodding incoherently. Danse stands up, pats me on the back, and sits on the couch parallel to where I was sitting. He's not in his X-01 suit, but he is wearing a T-shirt and slacks.

"GOD DAMNIT!" I yell as a horde of God-forsaken ferals begin chasing me around. I equip Righteous Authority and shoot a Feral Ghoul in the head. I sprint to the side of the door and duck behind it. I raise Righteous Authority and aim. I'm holding my breath as a Glowing One searches for me. I try to stay as still as possible, and I see that it has found me.
I hit it with the butt of my gun. It scratches me with its claw-hands.
"Fuck!" I yell, kicking the ghoul back and shooting at him. I retreat up the stairs.
"Damnit, Danse! Where are you?!" I yell, kicking down three ghouls. I cry out when a Stalker scratches me. "I'm absorbing too many rads staying here!"
I reach a hole in the wall, more ghouls are being attracted to the house. What is this, Jamaica Plains? I ask myself. I shoot down several more ghouls when I realise I need to escape, Danse or not.
I jump from the house to the ground. I sprint away from the house as fast as possible.
After about ten minutes of sprinting, I stop. The ghouls weren't chasing. I sit down near a downed log and apply a Stimpak. I lost a lot of blood, but as long as I don't move, I'll be fine.
Where is Danse? I think.
I close my eyes. I'm way too tired from barely ever sleeping. One nap... It'll be quick, I think, nodding off.

I wake up tied up to a chair, three Paladins in full power armor stare back at me.
"We know you're a synth, Alexandria. We have proof and a few outside sources," the far one on the right says.
"The outside sources are wrong! I'm not a synth!" I yell.
"Our sources are one hundred percent correct, Alexandria," the one in the middle says. He was the only one without a helm on.
"I'm not a synth! You're insane, all of you!" I scream, now crying.
The Paladin on the left looked down, coughing a little. That person hadn't spoke yet. Was he or she the outside source?
"The only one who's insane is you," Mr. No Helm said, pulling out an injection. He walks up to me and injects it into my arm. I'm just now realising I'm bare, except for my under clothing. I'm feeling dizzy.
"Where's... Where's Danse?..." I say, my words slurring together. It probably sounds like I'm saying, "Bareees... Baaaareees Banssse?"
Then everything fades to black.
