It was pitch black out. The power is out in most places for good. We saw a few infected. They weren't much trouble. The ride in the bed of the truck i was pretty tranquil. Jenna and i haven't really gotten alone to talk about old times. Toby was asleep. His head was on my shoulder.

"Its pretty fucked up now. I basically took this thing by force and left them on the side of the road." i let out a high pitched sigh. "But whatever. Oh well. Its a free country."

"He held a gun up to your head. He deserved it."

"No. That's not what i mean. I should be more torn up about it. But im not." i pulled my jacket closer to my body. It was cold. The only downside. Jenna was clinging to me for warmth.

The little back window was opened. My chemical romance played loud enough for us to hear.

Toby woke up enough to realize it was dark. He was up for good after that.

"This song. Is so emo."

"This song is the defintion of my childhood." i breathed leaning my head against the glass.

"True." Jenna sighed clapping a hand on my knee in sympathy.

"I'm confused. Why. Did you?" Toby asked.

I let out a laugh. "No. Mom did."

"Oh. Im sorry."

"No big deal, Tobias. I'm fine."

"Hambels area tough breed. Last of a dying breed." Jenna reminded me.

"Thanks." i said sarcastically.

The night was going to be a long one.
