Him

I walked down the halls.
I found my locker and opened the door.
I pulled out my books and closed my locker.
I walked to class.

It was just an ordinary first-day-of-the-year-kind of day. Untill I met him.

I found my homeroom and opened the door. I was early, so no one was there except for the teacher. I nodded at her and she nodded back.

"What's your name, dear?" she asked.

"Scott." I answered simply.

The teacher smiled. "Hello Scott. My name is Ms. Kaplan. I'll be your teacher for the year."

"Great."

The conversation hovered and I let it drop.
I found a seat next to the classroom window and sat down.
I was just pulling out my books from my bag when I heard Ms. Kaplan's voice again.

"Good morning. And what's your name?"

I stared at her. "Um, Ms. Kaplan? You just asked me and I answered-"

"Mitch."

I whipped around when I heard a stranger's voice. A brunette stood next to me.

"Well Mitch. My name is Ms. Kaplan. I'll be your teacher for the year."

Mitch nodded but I didn't think he even heard her. He was already busy tossing his bag to the desk next to me. I stared at him with mild interest.
"Hey I'm Scott." I said. He didn't even look up.

"So why are you putting your things next to me  anyway? Did you fall in love with me?
I'm sorry, but I'm taken!" I blabbed.

He was still ignoring me. I felt stupid.
I decided to shut up for a while.
Mitch must have thought the same thing because he didn't speak to me all morning.

About 30 minutes later, class started and I had said Hi to a bunch of people I didn't know.
I cared about my reputation more than anything, and making friends was a big part of a good reputation.

Though it was certain Mitch didn't know that, because he didn't say a word to anyone when they said Hi to him. He just nodded and looked away.

While Ms. Kaplan went on and on about "good behavior",I watched Mitch for a while.
He was good looking, with his dark eyebrows and pointy nose. And his eyes were stunning.
They were like a pool of chocolate.
I laughed at the thought and Mitch stared at me. He didn't say anything(of course), but I locked eyes with him.

"Hey." I whispered. He said nothing.

"Why don't you talk?" He still said nothing.

"Don't you know how to talk?" Mitch ignored me and looked at his books.

"You can't talk???" I practically screamed.

Mitch quickly looked up and glared at me.
Then he rolled his eyes and lowered his gaze again, sighing.
This guy may not talk, but he sure has high levels of sass, I thought.

I suddenly had the urge to make this guy talk.

"Hey." I whispered, poking him. He ignored me, so I leaned in close to him. It worked.

He flinched and pulled away. I grinned. I kept leaning in, closer and closer. Eventually he'd crack and talk to me, I thought.

He did, but as he did, he whipped his head around to face me and the surprised me fell forward and-

boop.

Our lips touched, ever so lightly and we instantly pulled away.
"I...I'm sorry...!" I said, wiping my mouth.

Mitch didn't take my apology, but I heard him say; "Gross..." under his breath.

Well at least he talked to me.
