Follow Your Dreams

A dream isn't necessarily something you see with your eyes closed. A dream is something you see with your eyes and heart open, something your footsteps take you towards, something that tells you to keep going because it's going to be worth it, something that doesn't let you close your eyes until it's reality.

A dream is your fairytale.. it's up to you to make this fairytale a part of your life.

Sometimes people tell you it's time to be a part of the real world. Sometimes they tell you to stop being a dreamer and to start being a realist. Sometimes they tell you that 'dreams' are not a part of the definition of 'reality' for a reason. Let me tell you a secret.

It's up to you to make these dreams a part of the real world... YOUR real world. It's up to you to keep dreaming, and to keep dreaming reality. Dreams are not a part of the definition of reality because there's a point where dreams and reality merge. Your heart won't let you stop dreaming because every time you look to the future with hope, with something to work towards... you're dreaming. 

Dreaming is what makes all those stepping stones worth something. Dreams are what guide you when you walk this path called Life because really, nobody wants to stumble around in the darkness. 

But it's all right to stumble. There's a point in life where most of us do. It's at the place where the road forks. Where are there are so many choices and you can't decide which way to go because so many choices lead to so many futures. And you're scared. What if something could have been better? Because there's no turning back once you choose.

Take heart. That candle that just went out, leaving you in darkness? That's not your dream. Your dream is that bright, shining star in the sky above. It doesn't leave you. It's just not visible at a point, the point where you think... 'Where is my dream?' But it is there... just like you need to search the sky for that star, you need to search your heart for that one dream. So many stars that shine in the night sky... those are your dreams. Because you don't just dream once. You keep dreaming. But there's this one star that gleams brighter than the rest, there's this one dream that calls to you more than those other dreams. That's your Dream. Never give hope. Keep searching. You'll find it. Follow it. And choose.

Choose without worrying about what ifs. Don't worry about what could have been. Because every moment in your life, every choice you make... there could have been others. There are so many ways. But at that point, for you.. there's only one way. Your way. The way your heart is following. That path with the butterfly your heart seems to be chasing, that path that seems just a bit brighter than the rest because of the light of that star... that's the path you choose. That's your way. The rest could have been, but they weren't. They weren't your choices. So really... think about the path you have chosen. 

Give it your all. Your mind, your heart, your soul. Follow that butterfly. Trust that star. Trust your heart and trust that dream. Along the way, let your heart guide you. Listen with your heart. Listen to the melodies of faith and hope and goodness that your heart can hear. There's a belief that the motion of the divine bodies around their orbits produces a symphony of heavenly music. Listen to that. Listen with your heart. 

If you listen with your heart, you can hear the earth silently sing.

Never be afraid to pursue your dreams because others were afraid to follow theirs. Their words reflect their fears. Don't let these fears become yours. They might say it because they care, because they don't want you to get hurt if these dreams remain dreams only. But your heart cares too. And your heart knows. Your heart has faith, it tells you to keep going, it reminds you of hope, it reminds you of your spirit, it drives away fear. Trust your heart. Trust your dream. Most of all... trust yourself.

Don't hurry along. This winding path won't disappear, your guiding light will not abandon you. Your heart is patient. And be honest to yourself, you are curious. Take in all the sights. Look around you. Live moments. Create memories. Laugh. Love. You're going to meet people along the way. Make friends. Find the companionship you want. Keep walking. But don't run. Look around you. Those beautiful flowers and trees... those places and those surroundings. Those strangers... make them your friends. Your heart is eager too. So enjoy the journey as you take those steps to get closer to your dream. 

Look ahead of you. There will be obstacles in your path. You need to face them. You will face them. And you will learn. Those lessons.. never forget them. Absorb them, make them a part of you. You will stumble, you may even fall. Get up. Dust yourself off. And keep walking. There's no saying what the next obstacle is.. it might get easier, then again, it might get tougher. But easy or tough is not determined by those obstacles, it's determined by your strength. Remember your strength. So really.. maybe things do get easier. Not because the obstacle is small, but because your strength is larger. And moreover... hope is still singing and your heart is still listening. There will be storms. You will weather them. Because your heart is firm and strong. And because you have faith in hope, in your heart and yourself.

Now you're just one step away from your dream. It's just before you. Now look at yourself... deep within yourself. Do you realize you've grown? Do you realize that all those obstacles, all those lessons, all those moments, all those people, all those choices, all those thoughts, all those actions... they've impacted you? They've contributed to making you the person you are today. They were worth it, weren't they? You kept dreaming. And that is what made this dream come real.

Now with a smile on your face, watch as the butterfly alights onto your shoulder. Now with a smile on your face, look above you and look at the star which shines just as brightly as it always did. Now with a smile on your face, make this dream your reality. Now with a smile on your face, heart within and God overhead, savour this moment. And many more moments in the future, in the reality you have created. 

And never stop listening to those melodies only your heart can hear.
