Amelie

Erin walked to the kitchen early in the morning and found a mountain of books on the table, kind of like a fort, and could see Amelie's legs below the table.

"Amelie? why are you studying this early?"

"Chemistry test on Monday" she said quickly and continued reading.

"Amelie stop please, look at me"

"I'm just studying! what's wrong with that?"

Amelie turned but didn't let go of the book on her hands.

"You never study this hard for tests except when something's really wrong, please talk to me"

"Okay... I'm worried that on class I haven't paid attention lately, chemistry was the last thing on my mind...and I just want to focus right now"

"Do you need help?"

"No, I'm fine" Amelie answered with a little fake smile.

"Are you sure? because I don't want to leave you here all alone if you need..."

"Seriously Erin I'm fine, go to L.A. and have fun with your boyfriend and his family"

"Sure?"

"Completely sure"

Some hours later Erin left to the airport for her weekend in L.A. with Tom and Amelie continued studying.

She had to read each paragraph three times because she couldn't focus. Nothing could stay on her mind because there was one thing filling everythig. Ian.

She reviewed what she had studied in the past hour and realized she nothing stuck.

"God, I do need help" she whispered.

She threw all her books in the car and drove to Dan's apartment.

"Hey Amelie, come in" he said opening the door for her.

"Dan I'm so sorry to bother you on a Saturday but I need help studying, do you think you can help me?" she said as she walked into the kitchen

"Today?" Dan asked making a weird face

What was Ian doing in Dan's kitchen?

"What is he doing here?" asked Amelie making an ugly face

"Umm...rude?" said Ian mockingly

"What? You guys know each other?" asked Dan

"No!" she quickly said

"Yeah a little" Ian said smirking

"Yeah" Dan rolling his eyes "I'll pretend I don't know what that means"

Amelie gave Ian a "You're disgusting" look and he bit his tongue holding back laughter.

"Please help me Dan?" she pleaded

"Look, I actually have a calculus test but I wanted to rest today before serious cramming tomorrow"

"Great, then I'll go ask Ricky for help" she said and started taking her stuff

"Wait, Ian could help you" Dan said

"Yeah sure" she said sarcastically and left the apartment.

While walking down the stairs Ian caught up with her.

"Hey Millie I could help you"

"I don't want you help"

"Why do you suddenly need help studying? You were the valedictorian in high school"

"Why do you suddenly care?" she snapped at him

"Because" he said grabbing her hand "I'd like to help you" he said with a half smile

Why. Why were there butterflies in her stomach.

"The problem is I can't focus I just need someone to ask me the questions so it's no big deal" she said

"Then it could be me, anyone can do that, right?" he said

Well, she didn't want to bother Ricky or any of her friends on a Saturday so why not use Ian's help.

"Okay sure, let's go to your apartment, my books are in the car"

Amelie handed him a bunch of index cards.

"Properties of Solutions? I had this test last semester, I thought you were smarter than me"

Amelie got very annoyed

"That doesn't mean anything! Just ask the questions" she said frowning.

Of course she was smarter than him.

"NaCl dissolves in water because the attractive interactions between...?"

"The ions and polar H2O overcomes the lattice energy of the solid NaCl" she said with a pleased smile

"That is correct" said Ian with a confused voice. "Umm...what is solvation?"

"when ions are surrounded by solvent molecules" she answered

For the next half hour Amelie kept answering the questions right like in the cards.

"What the hell girl? Why do you even ask for help you know all this by memory"

"I just need to make sure I know them all" she said as if it was something totally normal.

"Are you serious?"

"What? I need an A on this test"

"You're a freak" he said and she rolled her eyes "But let's make this interesting" he said giving her vicious smile "Let's do a competition between you and me"

"Why? you probably don't remember any of this stuff"

"You would be surprised" he said "with every question you get wrong you'll take off a piece of clothing" he said with a smirk "and game doesn't end until one of us is naked"

"You want to end up naked in front of me or what?" she said laughing

"No, I want to see you" he said with his vicious half smile

"you jerk, and there's probably a catch with this game"

"yeah, if you lose you'll sleep with me, again"
