Deante sat in his game room with Jay. Kev left to home to Marah. They were just chilling and talking, but Deante was wondering why he hadn't heard from his wife yet. It was little after eleven and he knew that she would have been called by know. He had been calling her for the last thirty minutes and the phone kept going to voicemail. Something wasn't right. He could feel it.
"Bruh you been nursing that glass of ciroc for a minute. Its like your mind is somewhere else. You good?" Jay asked before taking a sip from his drink.
"I'm worried about Jade. She hasn't called me yet and she hasn't been answering her phone. Something is up. I just hope that she ain't still pissed at me about closing her shop only to have her a new one closer to home." He sighed and looked over at Jay.
"Yeah I been calling Blu too and she isn't answering, but I can't say that I blame her because I fucked up bad. I don't know what the fuck is wrong with me man." He ran his hand down his face.
"You fucking stupid. It ain't no other way of putting it. I mean you out her fucking random bitches for what? Blu is a good girl that has a fucked up family life. She holds her own and she doesn't ask for shit other than you to treat her with respect which you don't do. I was a dumb ass nigga like you and the dumb shit I was doing almost caused me wife. Nigga you betta' tighten tha' fuck up cause these bitches outchea' ain't nothing but dick-chasers and papa-chasers."
Jay looked at his best friend and knew that he was right, but hell he had given one bitch his heart before and she fucked him over. He didn't have time for the bullshit so he opted to keep random bitches even though he love Blu. He was just afraid loving her and losing himself in her would cause him a world of hurt like no other. Jay had been hurt once and he wasn't about to do that shit again.
"Fuck!" Deante yelled out in frustration as he stood pacing.
"Man what the fuck is really up? Yo my fucking wife is on the bullshit. I know this shit about what the fuck I did. I hope to God she don't think she fucking leaving a nigga behind what I was doing to look out for her." He narrowed his eyes giving off a evil glare.
"Chill the fuck out my nigga. I see that deranged ass look in your eyes. Don't go popping off on some hot shit when you don't even know what's up, but on the real you should have thought your lil' plan through. You know how Jade is bruh." Jay tried to reason.
"And she know how tha' fuck I am. She know not to play with a nigga."
Jay shook his head because he already knew that if it all boiled down to it he was going to take a trip to Kershaw and he was going to be right there with him. For Jade's sake he hoped that she wasn't trying to leave or whatever because Deante was far from sane. He loved her more than he loved his damn self and that shit was deep as well as scary.

Two hours later Deante still was up calling Jade. He didn't understand what the fuck was going on, but something had to give. He hated to disturb Mama Matthews. She was his only hope. If she had talked to Jade then he already knew what was up. He picked the phone up and hit her number which was on speed dial. It rang a few times before a groggy Janetta answered.
"Hey baby, you okay?" She asked with concerned laced her voice.
"No, not really. I was calling to see if you heard from my wife?" He pinched the bridge of his nose as he leaned against the counter.
"Yeah, hours ago. I think that was about eight or nine. Is everything okay with you two?"
"Mama, I kinda did something that I shouldn't. My heart was in the right place. I just should have thought it out more. Anyway I'm just worried because now it's after one in the am and I have been calling her. She hasn't answered any of my calls since she first got to Kershaw. Now I don't know what to think."
"Well, I don't know what's going on between you two, it's none of my business. What I will say when you are in a marriage you can't make it be all about you and neither can she make it all about her. Y'all are one and have come together as such."
He took in her words and knew that she was absolutely right. Deante was making things be about what he wanted forgetting that it wasn't all about him. He just wanted to protect Jade and he didn't know what he would do if he lost her. Hell he didn't know what he would do if anything happened to her. Deante wouldn't know what to do with himself.
"I know mama. If you hear from her tell her to call me. I love you."
"I love you too and everything will work out."
Deante ended the call and headed upstairs to his daughter. He walked into her room and stared down at her. Destinee was the love his life just as Jade was. Deante touched her chubby cheek. "I pissed ya' mama off and now I gotta fix it."
He bent his head and kissed her before walking out to got into his room. Just as he was about to get comfortable his phone rang. He looked at the screen and didn't recognize the number. It had a 803 area code. His first instinct was to not answer the phone, but he answered anyway.
"Hello." He said in his heavy accent.
"Hi is this Deante Rodgers?"
"Yeah, who wanna know?"
"This is nurse Bailey at County Medical and we need you to get here because your wife was brought in a few hours ago. She was in a accident."
"Tha' fuck you mean? Nah, not my Jade."
"Sir please calm down. You really need to get here. I'm not allowed to go into detail over the phone. Just get here soon, Mr. Rodgers. Your wife needs you and so please just get here."
Deante let the phone fall from his hands as tears streamed down his face. He couldn't believe that this shit was even real right now. Then he remembered that Blu was with her and then he thought about Destinee. His mind was all over the place as tears slid down his cheek. He had to call her mother and tell her. Shit was fucked up and he was sure to be fucked up if something happened to his wife.
"Lord I know that I haven't been the best nigga, but you gave me someone special. I asked that you keep her covered. I need my wife and with her Lord I can't make it. She is my better half, my all. Keep Blu and keep this family because we are going to need you every step of the way. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

"How is she doing?" Nurse Bailey asked Dr. Jamison.
Dr. Jamison looked back through the glass of ICU and then back to his nurse. "She is holding on. The swelling in her brain has me concerned. If it doesn't go down then I may have to operate. Then her friend with her spine injury has me concerned. I wish these drunk drivers need to stay they ass off the road before they kill someone." He shook his head.
"Well I got in touch with her husband and I can tell when he gets here its going to be one helluva a scene. I could hear it in his voice. I could also hear the deep love he had for his wife in his voice. I pray that her and her friend pulls through." Nurse Bailey smiled weakly.
"God is a healer and he just gave me the gift to help aid. All we can do is pray and hope for the best. God has all the power."
Nurse Bailey walked off to check on patients. Dr. Jamison stood and looked through the glass at Jade Rodgers. She was so young and she had her whole life ahead of her. She reminded him so much of his daughter. Seeing her brought back so many painful memories. He sighed and rubbed his hand across his low haircut.
Lord keep your covering over them......
