They were quite a lovely unusual pair. He was around six feet tall and she was small, her red-soled stilettos beside her on the grass, rubbing her heel for relief.

She sat cross-legged, gazing at the dusky orange sky, placed on the ground with such cosmic gravity that no force on earth could move her other than her own free will.

"What are your favourite words?"

She looked at him, tilted her head.

"Favourite words? What do you mean?"

He repeated, "What are your favourite words? What words do you enjoy saying, what do you think sounds nice?"

Words flashed in her mind, each giving a different feeling, making her smile.

"I really like the word 'ephemeral'. It means something beautiful that last only for a short time. You?"

"'Epiphany' sounds nice"

"Ethereal"

"Evermore"

"Ooh, evermore is a good one. Transient"

"Transcendent"

"Nirvana"

"Cosmic"

"Dust"

His eyes narrowed. "Dust" he whispered, feeling the words in his mouth. It amazed him. Words that he would say without thought now felt special to his tongue.

"Soft water"

"Crisp morning air"

"Warm bath"

"Dancing girl"

"Boyish grin"

"Happy tune"

"Revelation"

"Love"

"You"

"Me"

And that was when the boy realised that this was the girl whose favourite words were the ones that he wanted to hear for the rest of his life, and he would spend every day trying to make those favourite words come true.
