A/N: Sadie and Walt aren't going to be mentioned in this book, so just pretend that Anubis wasn't tied to Walt or whatever.

Anubis's POV
Even immortals needed to find time to just relax, and Anubis was only a child by most God's standards. So he came to his favorite place, invisible on a bench in a windy grave yard. He was satisfied, listening to the souls of the dead. Until he felt a strong jolt of powerful dark magic directly next to him, like being sharply jabbed in the side. Being himself, he looked over, and he was shocked at what the source of the power was. A fourteen year old buy had just stepped dejectedly out of the shadows and sat  down on a gravestone, wiping his eyes furiously. Anubis was practically in a stupor, for he had read the boy's mind and found out that his name was Nico di Angelo, and that the boy had been through more than anyone else in the entire universe. No GOD would dare to go into tartarus, Greek or not, and the fact that he had to suffer through that completely alone left him speechless. He sat there like an idiot, until of course he came to his senses and snapped out of it. He stood up shakily and made himself visible to the younger boy, sitting down and awkwardly patting his back while offering words of encouragement. Nico suddenly realized that he was crying on a complete stranger's shoulder, and flushed, standing up. Anubis found it rather adorable. Anubis apologised ahead of time, for he knew Nico would want to kill him for reading his mind. "I'm really sorry." He muttered shyly, and Nico was confused. "What?" the boy had responded, immediately on guard. "Chill, I'm not a monster." Anubis defended quickly, "And I'm sorry because I read your mind." "WHAT." The young demigod had yelled, no longer afraid. "Yeah, and after doing so I figured out that you probably did not appreciate me doing that. And I'm the Egyptian God Anubis." Anubis had expected Nico to slap him across the face. Nico did. HARD. "Okay.. are we even now?" The God had yelped, already able to feel the bruise forming."Yes, and I hope you understand if I treat you like I would anybody else." Anubis nodded, in truth, he was ecstatic to be just a normal person for once. He could tell that Nico saw through his act, but understood and didn't comment. The cemetery was bathed in a comfortable silence that that blended well with the quieting wind. It was Anubis who eventually broke the ice. "You got anywhere to stay, kid?" He asked softly, he could tell Nico was about to burst into tears, as he shook his head. "Well... I often pretend that I'm a mortal and have an apartment and a school system... Maybe you could stay with me..?" I asked hesitantly. "I'd love to, but just answer me one thing. Why?" I bit my lip as I tried to come up with something better than "cause you're really cute and I think I might already be in love with you" "you remind me of myself my first few centuries, and I can't remember how many times I wished for a day to go right." Nico nodded, silently accepting most of the truth as we walked to my apartment a few blocks from the graveyard.
