It's been one week since we brought Ella home. She's been such a good baby.
As soon as my eyes open I look at the bassinet beside me. It's empty. Looking across the bedroom I see Liam sitting in the rocking chair across the room. Sitting up, I quietly watch him. He's cradling Ella in his strong arms, singing to her sweetly.
I'm completely overwhelmed by the swell of emotions I feel. Liam is an even more amazing father than I'd imagined he'd be. I wipe away my happy tears just before Liam notices I'm awake.
"Ella, Mummy's awake."
They come join me in bed. Liam hands Ella to me. The love I feel for them both washing over me in waves.
"Good morning, Beautiful." Liam says, before kissing me.
"Good morning, Handsome. Thanks for letting me sleep."
We lay there for a while, cuddling as a family. Then Liam offers to take her, so I can get ready.
When I go downstairs, I see Liam cleaning up in the kitchen. I can't resist teasing him.
"Liam, did you just flip that baby bottle like you do your microphone?"
He blushes. "Maybe."
Moving across the kitchen, I put my arms around his neck. "My big, adorable, dork." I laugh.
Liam feigns looking offended. "I believe you forgot a word."
I pretend to think. "Sexy?"
He raises his eyebrows.
"Trust me, I didn't forget that." I run my hands slowly down his t-shirt, pausing at the waistband of his jeans.
"How long do we have to wait?" Liam asks.
I grin. "A month."
Liam sighs loudly.
"Just remember the other times we've had to wait. The end results were pretty spectacular." I wink.
Liam moans as his hands move from my back, down to my ass. "You aren't helping, Babe."
I laugh, then his mouth is on mine. That is until little Ella decides it's time to eat.
"You finish up in here, I'll take care of Ella." I say.
When Liam joins us in the livingroom I am pacing back and forth, as Ella cries in my
arms.
"What's wrong, Love?"
"I'm not sure. I've tried everything. I've fed her, burped her, changed her, and rocked her."
Liam takes her. "Let me try."
I sit on the couch watching Liam walk the room with Ella. Almost instantaneously as he begins to sing to her, she stops crying. Liam winks at me then sits with her in the rocking chair, continuing to sing.
I watch in awe. Apparently Ella finds her daddy's voice quite soothing. Just like her mum.
