Chp. 3 : Dog Chase

Chance's POV:

I'm putting an end to it.
It ain't over, I promise...

The audacity that girl got.

I shook my head and eyed my surroundings once more.

It's just another one of those days, where I decided not to go to class.

I was at the back of school where nobody came, not that they dared to. Me and the rest would always chill out here, but I told them I wanted to be alone today. I was skipping my classes like usual since my mind was plagued with thoughts.

The rays of sunshine were warm against my face and back while I found just the right song to play through my headphones.

I was sitting on a crimson red bench, gazing up into the sky. I pulled out a previously rolled up blunt from behind my ear and dug into my pockets. Finding my BIC lighter, I held the blunt between my lips while I flicked at the striker wheel. Getting it to ignite, I lit the end of the blunt, took in a long drag of it, and slowly exhaled as my mind slowly relaxed itself.

I leaned back completely onto this bench and flicked off some ash.

How could I allow Jacqueline to drag me back into the game? I thought she wanted me out, and has for the last 2-3 years. So, why now? Why get me involved now? I don't get it at all.

I shook my head and took another drag before exhaling again. Watching the smoke fade off into our already polluted atmosphere.

I slowly closed my eyes and allowed myself to relax completely.

Yet another war has begun.

Remy's POV:

Chance would come to school some days, and for whatever reason, seemed to love getting underneath my skin.

Last night, there was a gang war that everyone was talking about, and I was sure Chance wouldn't come today. I'm positive she was apart of it somehow.

Yet, Chance came to lunch. She looked upset as she took her seat at her table. Nobody ever sat at that table, except strictly her friends. It was the gang's. Ever since the beginning of time, it's been that way apparently.

I had my back to Chance and her table, and I was eating lunch with A'Jay since all my other friends avoided me because of that milk incident with Chance a few days back.

I wasn't mad though, I would have probably did the same to avoid drama. But, A'Jay didn't care. She's brave, and that made her blind. She always defended those being picked on, but she doesn't realize her closet friends are the bullies.

"Why does Chance keep staring at you?" A'Jay asked, cutting me off mid-sentence while I spoke. I didn't bother to turn around to see for myself.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I said, hoping she'd drop it.

"If you'd look, you'd see. Turn your ass around," She sort of demanded.

I hated when she pointed out Chance to me. I cautiously turned around, trying to make it seem natural rather than forced. My body was turned halfway around and I moved my head slightly to see.
