Chp. 8 : Guts vs. Fear
Remy's POV
Darkness was my only friend here, cascading from all sides of me as I was thrown back into this cold basement.
I'd try and run but they'd just lock me in. All I could do is sit, pray Chance was okay, and hopefully coming for me.
I don't understand why they would take me, they'd come down and beat me occasionally when they'd get bored.
Bruises were all over my body from where they'd kick or punch me and there were a few scrapes from either getting dragged or sleeping on this hard cement floor.
One of my eyes throbbed in stinging pain from where one of them cut me. I would probably want to die through all of this if I didn't have Chance to live for.
It was probably late dawn judging from the small window offering my only light and awareness of the outside world. The glass is indestructible and there's no access to open it which I learned the hard way.
I froze up when I heard the door creak open and it was one of them. This one I actually recognized from school. Black long curls with arched menacing eyebrows and that look of hers. In the cafeteria she'd glare at me and I'd return the gesture.
She stepped up to me with a smirk. I didn't even get to take a breath before she snatched me up by a handful of my hair.
I winced at the pain from my scalp, "Let go! What the fuck are you—!"
She drove me into the wall behind us with a grip on my shirt. I let out a gasp when the wind was knocked out of me.
She spoke lowly with a scowl to her voice, "Strip... right now."
"Strip? What're you—"
She grabbed my wrist and took the lit blunt that was between her lips. She pressed it right into the skin on my forearm causing a bloodcurdling scream to bounce off the basement walls.
She laughs at my pain and grins, "Now will you be a bit more obedient? And do as I fucking say? Because–" she pauses to get close enough to my ear. "– I can do a whole lotta more shit to you than just burn some flesh." She laughs while streams of tears were flowing down my cheeks.
Chance's POV:
I awoke with a massive headache. My head felt like I ran head first into a brick wall. Low asses– a blow to the head. Really? Who does that anymore?
I am going to kill them all for this but first I have to make sure Remy is safe.
I ran out of my place and went where I vowed I wouldn't ever let Remy see again– the place I brought her to which was then raided by our rivals.
I arrived at the house in 10 minutes and searched through the entire house. It was empty and there was no sign of life since the shootout a few weeks ago. I looked for any clues that I could find. I ended up tearing the house apart in the process which added onto the chaos.
I looked for an hour and came up empty-handed. Frustrated and disappointed at my failure I got back in my car and rode around for where Remy might be.
