Chp. 4 : Scattered Lead

Remy's POV
[ in media ]

A'Jay and I walked up to school the next day. I was kind of nervous because of Chance's warning to me being with A'Jay.

A'Jay didn't notice, she was too busy telling me about basketball tryouts and if she was going to tryout. If she made the team, we wouldn't be able to walk home together at all because of practice, and she was aware of that. Which is the only reason she is unsure on if she was going to tryout.

We both know she'd make the team, she was like the best player in our division.

"You should just tryout," I told her when she stopped talking long enough for me to say something.

"Are you sure?" She asked.

Who was I to stop her? She could probably be seen. Get a scholarship, get signed and get the fuck outta here.

"Yeah, of course."

"Thanks bro, you the best fo' real." She said beaming. I haven't seen her so happy over something before. Last time was when she told me about banging her first love over the summer.

"You'll be at all my games, right?"

"Of course," I lied.

School functions wasn't my thing. I'd probably just go to one to make her happy. Something to do instead of staying coped up in my room.

I'm sure A'Jay could sense that I was lying, but was too happy to care.

School went by quickly, and Chance didn't show up during lunchtime. Her whole table was empty, which was rare. Usually if she didn't show up, a few of her friends would've been there.

I didn't pay too much attention to it, besides I should be happy right?

The rest of the day seemed to drag on forever. I didn't bother waiting for A'Jay to see if she changed her mind about tryouts. She was probably the first one to show up at the gym.

I began to walk home, not really paying attention to my surroundings. I had my earphones in with music blasting. Until I heard a familiar thumping noise over my music, so I took out a earphone to listen.

The sound was getting closer and closer, and I already knew who was responsible for it.

Chance pulled up along the side of me, but I kept on walking.

She got out the car and grabbed me before I could escape like last time.

"Need a ride?" She asked.

"Nah, walking is good for the body." I said, motioning the shape of my body.

She looked me up and down, and it made me uncomfortable. I rolled my eyes, and started walking again. Yet, she caught me and asked again to which I replied once again with a simple no.

"You owe me fo' the bag," she started.

"You stole it," I ended.
