Chp. 5 : Trust Issues

Remy's POV

Chance came up to my locker the next morning, asking if I was fine. A lot of people stared at us, but I didn't mind. I didn't know how to respond. Chance was acting kind and caring, but she did awful things and exposed me to them. Just when I thought I was getting to know the real her, she destroys all the trust I had in her. But, I can't stand the thought of being without Chance either...

Against my better judgement, I've started to like her.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I respond, without taking any time to look at her.

She looked at me with pain in her eyes, instead of her usual cold, and empty eyes. She saw what she had done, and the consequences thereof.

She forced a smile and left.

I didn't see her for the rest of the week. I thought nothing of it since she comes to school ever other day, but her whole table stopped coming, so I got nervous.

"You coming to my game, right?" A'Jay asked me during lunch in the cafeteria. I was staring at Chance's table and she hadn't noticed. So, basketball must be going real good for her.

"Yeah, sure." I replied.

She smiled and hugged me before running off to talk to her teammates.

That was weird though.

After school, I walked to Chance's place - the first place she brought me - I refuse to step anywhere near that house where the shootout took place.

I knocked on the glass wooden door. I waited for a few minutes but there was no answer. I knocked a few more times before giving up.

I got a text and checked my phone to see who it was. A'Jay texted me reminding me not to forget her game tonight.

I scrolled through some of my other unopened messages and saw a new contact. Chance had put her number in my phone. I quickly called her and she picked up on the first ring.

"Remy? What's up? Something wrong?" She asked instantly.

"Uh- nah. Just I haven't really seen you all this week, and wanted to- uh... check if you was okay."

I could feel her smirk through the phone. "So, you missed me?"

Overconfident ass nigga...

"Are you okay?" I asked, ignoring her previous question.

"Shouldn't I be asking you that? But, I'm fine. Do yo-self a favor- and stay away from me." She hung up.

I can't believe her.

I contemplated on going to the second home, but refused thanks to my brain.

I went home and freshened up with a shower, a new outfit, and watched some TV before heading back to school for A'Jays game. She was on Varsity, so I had to wait awhile until they started.

Freshmen sucked, and J.V. was okay.

I was barely paying attention to the game, my mind kept wondering towards Chance.
