Chapter one: The First Day
I din't care going in search of my brother just for the sake of returning his bag. It's my first day in class, probably the bag wouldn't be much of a need for me and for him. And if he needs it, he'll come around.
Evan and I made our way towards our lockers, which was quite close to each other.
Evan Cox... he was the best friend everybody wished for. But back off, he is already taken. We have been friends for ages now. He was a typical school jock with girls chirping all around him. And quite surprisingly, he behaved like the most matured one in our friend circle. Even though he is three months younger to me, he behaved like my dad and I hate to admit this, but this man knows me too well for my own good.Once I reached the locker, I dumped my brother's bag inside, pulled out an old note book and a pen before locking it again.
"Carol!" Somebody literally screeched. Grace?
I snapped my head towards the direction of the noise, internally thanking the lord for not giving me a whiplash.
"Hey Grace!" I chirped as Evan just waved at her. I watched her as she made her way towards me with a wide grin plastered across her face and I unconsciously mirrored her expression. "You look..." I contemplated for words as she acknowledged Evan. "You look really zealous right now. What's up?"
"You are free after class?" She asked me not bothering to answer my question.
"Yea?" I replied skeptically.
"Very well then. 5'o clock, at the Harmonds, just you and me." She said peaking at Evan. "I wanna say you something... Well, show you something... Anyways, that's not important right now... But don't forget to be there on time... that's it!" She rushed her words out and she moved past us before I could even reply. I left out a heavy sigh and physically pulled Evan towards our classes as he was standing there dumbfounded.
"Girls and their..." I heard Evan mutter something under his breath, while I gave him a stink eye.
He rolled his eyes as he made his way to the class. He does that a lot. By lot, I mean, a lot.
"One day, I bet your eyes will be stuck on its way round." I said pointing my finger at his chocolate brown eyes."Excuse me?" He looked back.
I gave him one of those 'duh' looks as I moved past him to proceed towards my class.
Grace was an exchange student who made a way into our small world during the mid sem last year. She was weird in her own way, well... who isn't? Its hardly been half a year since she moved in here and she is already one of my closest friends.
First hour was history and I was literally amazed by my own talent of dozing off while keeping my eyes open. Other than that the time flew by quickly and it was already time for lunch. Unfortunately, the teachers here do not know the rule during the first day. I thought it would just be some greetings and formal introduction to the subjects. But no... they love making us suffer by giving stupid assignments about something that we din't even know existed. I could only imagine my brother's situation. I was actually surprised that he isn't hunting me down for his bag.
I made my way towards the cafeteria with Evan catching up on the way. I eyed around the hall and noticed a hand waving at us. A smile crept over my face when I saw the owner of those tiny arms and made my way towards her. Her blonde hair was tied up with some loose strands hanging out of the ponytail.
"Tess..." I hugged the Blondie in front of me.
"I missed you so much!" She hugged me back.
"Too much to make me feel as a loner." Evan grumbled beside us.
