Chapter Twenty-Two
"Louis! Stop!" I hear the lads shout, but I don't listen. Keep running. "Louis!"
"Tomlinson!" Zara's suddenly in front of me, her arms crossed and I stop immediately to prevent myself from bumping into her. "You can't just run away from your problems."
I glare at her, "I'm not running away from them."
"Oh, really now?" She snorts, "It certainly seems like it."
"I'm not running away from them." I repeat, still glaring at her angrily.
She raises her eyebrows briefly, "What are you doing, then?"
"I'm joining Flora."
She raises an eyebrow, leaning towards me slightly with her arms still crossed, "Excuse me, but I don't really understand... You're 'joining' her?"
"Yes."
I walk past her, but she holds me back by grabbing my arm, "And how are you planning to do that, huh? How are you 'joining' her?"
"By going through the same thing as her." I pull myself from her grip, but she stops me again.
"Don't."
Don't. Is she really meaning this? Is she expecting I'll just move on and live my life without her? Well, surprise surprise, that's not going to happen. Who the hell does she even think she is? My boss? I slowly turn around, closing my eyes and breathing in to calm myself down, "And why wouldn't I?"
"Think about it. What would she have wanted you to do?"
What would she have wanted me to do? Move on, I guess. But that's something I can't. "Can I at least see her?"
"No."
"Then I see no reason to move on."
"Think about it, Tomlinson. Think about how disappointed she would have been for not even trying. And even if that doesn't convince you, think about the consquences of your death. Think about the fans you leave behind. Your friends. Your family. Just don't make sudden decisions you can't turn back." She says and I can see she's truly concerned. I know she's right. I can't just leave everyone behind like that, I can't do that to my family and friends; I care about them too much to do that.
I sigh, throwing my arms up in desperation, "What am I supposed to do?"
"You'll have to come up with something yourself. Just try to get your mind off things, get some sleep. Sometimes it's better to overthink things, Louis." With that, she releases my arm and walks away. I stare after her. This is the first time she actually uses my first name, and it surprises me. So she is really meaning this.
Defeated, I sit down on the grass and put my head in my hands. The tears are streaming down my face again and I feel my chest aching at the thought of her. What would she have wanted me to do? She probably wouldn't have wanted me to die. I sigh, defeated. I just can't. I can't make a decision right now. There's only one thing I know for sure; Zara certainly knows what to say when she wants to affect someone's decisions.
I look up, the first thing calling my attention being the trees in front of me. I still remember that, when she was still here, we used to climb them somtimes. We sometimes made competitions out of it. I smile, thinking back of those memories, one standing out in particular.
