Chapter 55: The Manticore

Jason's POV:

"Percy? What is it you have in mind?" Annabeth asked with concern. I could easily tell she wasn't looking forward to hearing Percy's crazy plan. His plans were always crazy and dangerous but they usually worked out.

"Its dangerous. But it's the only way we could get to Olympus without the gods noticing," he said.

"And that way is?" Piper asked.

"If you guys are ready to back down when I say it I won't blame you," he sighed, "the labyrinth. It has ways to every single world. Why not Olympus?"

No one said anything, we all just stared at him as if he was an alien. "Perseus Jackson!" Annabeth shouted as she stood up to face him.

"Oh no," he muttered.

"The labyrinth? Are you crazy, have you lost your mind? Let me answer that for you, yes! You are crazy! No! When Daedalus was in control of it, it was horrible the labyrinth could kill anyone! And now that Pasiphaë has rebuilt it who knows what horrors lie in there, Percy what were you thinking?" Annabeth yelled she was panting trying to catch her breath.

"Annabeth, guys I know its dangerous and extremely risky but its our only chance." Percy defended.

"Percy navigating through the labyrinth could take days or weeks, we don't have that much time. And going through the labyrinth is honestly considered suicidal." Annabeth said.

"Percy, according to you and Annabeth when you ventured through the maze it was horrible and a great deal of trouble, don't you think there might be another way?" Hazel asked.

Percy buried his head in his hands and didn't reply.

"Guys at least he's trying to help don't give him a hard time." Frank said.

"Frank going through that place will give us a hard time." Piper said.

"And fighting the gods won't be hard Piper?" I asked. I wasn't saying I agreed with the labyrinth idea but it was pretty smart and sneaky; the gods would never know. "Wait isn't the labyrinth underground? And Olympus is above the skies, how could the labyrinth possibly take us up there?" I asked.

Percy looked up, "true but the labyrinth goes under every ground and there is ground up on Olympus so it would lead us under it and we could break through the surface."

"Percy that's actually pretty smart." Frank said.

"Thanks. At least someone around her appreciates what I'm trying to do."

"Percy we do appreciate it that your trying to help but we need help going through the place. Remember last time we were lost and we needed help to go through it." Annabeth reminded him.

"Yes I know. And Rachel helped us last time because she is mortal but can see through the mist. We can ask her to help," he suggested.

"You want to endanger Rachel's life? Percy you can't possibly let her do this!" Annabeth said.

"I won't force her. I'll ask. And if she doesn't agree we either find another way or find a way through the labyrinth ourselves." He fished his phone out of his pocket and dialed Rachel's number.

"Percy do you really want to attract monsters with that phone. Really?" Leo asked.

"Its just one phone call, what could possibly go wrong?"

"Jason can I talk to you alone for a moment." Piper asked.

"Uh sure." She pulled me aside away from the others. "Are you honestly up for this Jason? All the campers told stories about what happened when Percy and Annabeth were down there, do you really want to go?" She asked.
