Chapter Two

It wasn't the bad singing that woke Hiccup up, it was the sound of sizzling bacon. He groaned and sat up, messing his hair up even more.

Him and Toothless had come home very, very late the night before, and from how he felt, he had only gotten about three hours of sleep. Not enough time to get a memory back, but he would manage.

Hiccup tried to stand up, but fell flat on his face instead. He groaned and flopped onto his back. Toothless (as a cat) came and sat on his chest.

"Toothless, please get off," Hiccup pleaded.

Hiccup could've sworn that his shape-shifter dragon smiled.

"Don't you dare relax, don't you... Ow..."

Toothless had relaxed, and his claws had come out, digging into Hiccup's skin.

"Thanks for nothing, you useless feline."

Toothless yawned, and cured up even further, relaxing even more.

"I am going to die because my cat won't get off of me." He got an idea. "Merida," he called out, "Merida, help, I'm being attacked my my cat. Merida, please help --"

"I heard ye the first time," a voice said from behind his bedroom door. "I heard something about a cat?"

"Yeah, Toothless is a stupid cat."

"Oh, really?"

"A stupid animal at all times, really."

That got Toothless to fully extend his claws.

"If you don't hurry up, my cat will make me bleed to death."

Merida slowly opened the door, and burst out laughing. "I'm sorry," she gasped out when she could, "You two are just too cute!"

"Uhhh..." Hiccup turned bright red as Merida walked over to take the shape-shifter off of his green pajama shirt.

"Breakfast is almost ready," Merida said closing the door, Toothless in her arms.

"Breakfast...?" Hiccup asked softly. Slowly, he pulled out a green and brown hoodie, and dark blue jeans and pulled them on. He stumbled out of his room and into the kitchen. A big platter of link sausage, bacon, a potato-ish omelette, fried mushrooms and beans and grilled tomatoes.

"What..." Hiccup tried to say, but the smell (which was amazing) and the sheer amount of it blew his mind.

"Breakfast!" Merida said, a little bit too cheerfully. "Ye didn't have anything good, so I went shopping this morning. I couldn't find black pudding, which was sad. But this is France, so I wasn't expecting much."

Numbly, Hiccup sat down at the raised island in the middle of the kitchen/living room. "Uh... Thanks, I guess?"

"And ye are really skinny, too."

"Gee, thanks. Uh, how do I eat this?"

"That's not all for ye. Most of it is for me."

Merida got two plates out of the dishwasher and started piling a mountain of food onto it. Hiccup tried parts of it, and found that it was okay.

A tapping came at Hiccup's kitchen window. Hiccup looked at it and groaned. Jack was there, a crazy grin on his face.

"What's Frosty doing here?" Merida asked.

"Probably to bite my head off. What do you want," he said after he had thrown the tiny kitchen window open.

"I found a guy who can help," Jack said. "And... What's going on?"

"Hiccup has no good food," Merida said. "So I helped out."

Jack nodded. "I'll believe it."

"What are you doing here? Is it another false alarm, like the Library of Alexandria?" asked Hiccup.

"What?" Merida said, putting her plate down. "Ye found the Library of Alexandria?"

"Yup, after this genius burnt it down."

Merida glared at Hiccup. "Why would ye do that?"

"The information inside of it."

Merida turned to Jack. "So, let me guess, you two are looking for her too?"

Jack nodded. "Yeah. A couple of days ago I found an entrance into the Library of Alexandra, and last night Hiccup pretty much told my that my idea was stupid."

Merida was glaring at Hiccup even harder now. "And why would he do that?"

Hiccup threw up his hands. "Fine! You know what, I will introduce you two to a Spirit that knows more about this than any of us."

"Aye, let's go."

"He's in Boston."

"That's no big deal!" Jack said. "My Northern Winds can take me there, and --"

"Unless Merida has suddenly learned how to use her Southern Wind --"

"Which I have!"

"Okay, so she has. But Toothless can only fly so far and as far as I know, we don't have control of any of the winds. So, we will be going slowly."

"You flew to Alexandria and back just fine!"

Hiccup held up a finger. "Correction: We flew there just fine. We had to stop on a boat for a little bit on the way back."

"So we'll do that!" Merida said.

"Without Rapunzel, what kind of a group are we?" Jack whispered. Merida and Hiccup turned to look at him.

"Ye like her a lot, don't ye," said Merida.

Jack said nothing, but looked down.

"Yer not the only ones looking for her too, y'know," Merida said. She held up a satchel with a crudely sewn-on patch in a corner. "I found this about four months ago."

Jack's hand started to shake, but only just. "Where did you find that," he asked, trying to keep his voice from cracking.

"Björn found it for me in the park were I work."

"Do you think that she might be there?"

Merida shook her head. "No, Björn and I have looked under every leaf and rock there. Trust me; she's not in Scotland."

Silence.

Finally, Hiccup spoke up. "Fine," he said. "I can take you to someone who might, might, be able to tell you guys where she is. Okay?"

"Well, then what are you waiting for?"

"It's gonna be hard."

"How hard can it be?" Jack asked.

"Hard like stealing-a-snow-globe-from-North hard."

The two other Spirits stared at Hiccup, both of their mouthes forming an O.

Hiccup smiled, and sat the two down. "Here's my idea."

A/N: This is late, I know, don't remind me. Finals are coming up and I kinda lost track of time and I've been on hiatus for a while. Don't worry, I'm still writing this, it's just going really slow and sorry if the writing sucks.

This is dedicated to BooksLove123 because I can.

Vote, comment, and with me luck on my finals! (Last semester, I nearly failed them because of Netflix. Go me.)
