How many of you have visited the beaches. Cool breeze, sound of the waves, seashells, bikini clad women (boy's don't get naughty or imaginative) and a lot of families and friends enjoying themselves.
What if a lovely place like a beach becomes a cause of a lifetime of horror for you? ...
The 'Dumas beach' located near Surat Gujarat is a set of four beautiful beaches one after the other. It had settlements of fishermen and local villagers all along the coast. When the tsunami approached in 2004, nearly the entire Asian coastal system of one side was washed away. Dumas, unfortunately was one of the towns from where thousands of homes and thousands of people were washed into the sea at one instance
Since then there have been stories about sightings and the beach being haunted by the dead.
It was nearly the end of 2009 and we were planning on where to go for the night. We were in Gujarat it was a dry state and there was really not much to do. The alcohol we had was also illegally procured by all unfair connections. Suddenly, one of my friends suggested...
"Let's go to the dumas beach, it will be fun, we will celebrate new years drinking by the side of the sea"
"Are you sure, like you really want to go to 'The Dumas' Beach?" I asked reinforcing the name convincingly...
"Yes I am sure. Don't tell me you believe in all the tell tales about the ghosts and stuff?" he asked grinning...
"It is not the fact whether I believe or not, it is just that I do not encourage such fool hardiness. Even if there were no ghosts what if some bandits caught us in the middle of the night and beat us black nd blue. You do realize there would be no one else on the beach at this hour?" I said looking at my friend in the eye...
Nonetheless, we were young and we were all pathetically crazy. Soon enough, the four of us were driving down the roads that lead to the so-called haunted beach.
The drive was scenic in the night. The light of the waning moon dimly lighted the outskirts of the beach. It was all very enticing, the shadows of the palm trees swaying in the night breeze and the howling wind trying to whisper something in our ears. Overall it was pretty eerie. Or was this my soul's way of gearing up for an encounter...
It was almost eleven in the night when we reached the first stretch of the beach. Since there were no cops on the beat, no tourists and no passer buy's my friend took the liberty to drive the off road vehicle straight up to the sea.
I was the last to get down; my crazy friends were all over the place chasing each other, high on the attributes of alcohol. I stood by the sea, letting the creeping waves drench my tired ankles as I watched the moon shining on the horizon
I could sea the shadow of a ship in the distance miles and miles away from where I stood. Lost in my thoughts I suddenly heard a whisper in my ear...
