"Lights Out" Manesar, india (2007)

Imagine staying in a dorm flanked on both sides by graveyards... scary shit right!!!

This is the story from the ladies dorm of the elite institute of management (name changed) located on the outskirts of Manesar. Spread over acres and acres of large green area; the elite institute of management had students from different families. Some belonged to the overly rich class. Some came through scholarships and other through reservations.

This story is of room 409. The numbers added up to 13 total taboo but the students did not give a shit about it till the incident that I am about to mention happened within the campus grounds.

This story is from the batch of 2005-2008. Many of these private Indian colleges that mushroomed at different locations with all facilities of western colleges also aped the western culture. You could find students snogging in the campus late night, gay couples, drugs so on and so forth, even parties; prom nights, sororities, groups etc.

This story unfolds in room 409. The two roomies were viva and Heena. Viva was the daughter of one of the most influential industrialists while Heena was one of the students who had come through scholarship; completely different people, completely different mindsets but the best of roommates

From here on I will give you a brief on the conversation that happened between the two ladies on that fateful night. For reference I have used 'H' to denote Heena and 'V' to denote Viva.

V: Do you know who asked me out to the Prom tonight?

H: Who?

V: Ashish!! OMfG, he is like the hottest football player in college. He is so totally crunching on me.

H: we have an exam around the corner Viva, how can you be so casual about that

V: but duuude!! It's Ashish, you come along too, we will have fun and who knows you might find someone single too. Wear one of my spaghetti's

H: you carry on I'd rather study

Viva tried her best to convince Heena for the party but to no avail. Tired and exhausted she started getting ready alone. Ashish came to pick her up for the party at eight, she left informing Heena that she had bought some pizza and left it in the fridge in the common room.

While Viva was leaving the room she tripped on something.

V: Good lord Heena, Please get rid of this confounded second hand rocking chair

H: I love it, helps me concentrate while I'm rocking on it.

Viva was all set for a night with her dream date and Heena was all set for a date with her books in the room.

The Prom party lasted for hours at a stretch. Viva danced through the night with Ashish. It was nearly 2:00 in the night when Ashish came to the girl's dorm to drop Viva. She was quite drunk and nearly tripped twice or thrice while ascending the stairs.

From the crevice below room number 409, Viva could see that the lights were out. Heena must have gone of to sleep while studying. Viva slowly opened the lock on the door and stepped inside the dark room.

Viva wanted to quickly grab her books; she could see the edifice of Heena's body tucked under the overalls. Drunk and tired, she tripped twice or thrice before she actually got a hold of her books lying on the bedside table. She did not wish to wake up her roommate. She though she would ask Heena to teach her in the morning while she actually did her initial homework of actually reading her books for the year for the first time. While Viva was on her way out of the room to go to the common room, She hear a creaking sound from behind...

It was the old armchair...

Viva did not pay heed when out of the blue she heard Heena's voice from the back

H: someone got laid tonight....

Viva did not turn back and replied in a mocking tone

V: shut up! Bitch chuckles

Viva once again started walking to the door

H: Someone got laid tonight....

V: Shut up Heena, I am going to slap you silly

H: some one got laid tonight....

Viva immediately turned the lights on from near the door and turned around

V: I am going to fucking teach you a....

Viva's voice retracted back into her throat. The books in her hand fell. She was staring at the back wall of her room, which was marred in stains of blood. On the wall right behind the head stead of the bed was the message

" Are you not lucky to have not switched on the lights when you came in"

Viva's gaze slowly moved to the rocking chair. Heena's nearly decapitated body lay rocking gently. Blood was flowing from the slit in her throat down to her feet. Her white dress had become absolutely red

Viva realized that while she was groping around for her books, he roommate was being cut open

Viva started screaming as a phantom shadow slowly crept from behind the chair on which lay Heena's dead body

The door of the room slammed shut on its own. A blood-curling scream shattered the silence of the night and it all came to an end...

The local authorities found the bodies of the two girls dangling from a tree in the graveyard the next day.

No one knew whether it was a paranormal occurrence or the activity of a psycho killer.

Dear reader's you can also find stories like this on the web as the urban legend that goes by the name "roomies death". The Urban Legend gained a lot of readership and also has many versions but this true story was buried forever

If you ever get a chance to visit the large private colleges in Manesar or get admitted in one, please see there are no graveyards nearby and definitely do not stay in a room numbered.... 409.
