Fallen

Aisling's Point of View:

"An escape;

What has she done?

A mere burst to feel alive;

Her breathing now shallow; each more difficult to take than the last.

Adrenaline racing; living on the edge of death.

The edge now caving in beneath her own feet.

Her dreams and aspirations thriving with possibilities;

All sold to get another fix.

This must be what's right.

Her soul now trapped in a skin fit for another.

Eyes filled with such admiration for the world;

Now filled with such hatred and sorrow.

Hatred of herself?

Never.

Now that self hatred consumed her every thought.

The present - a step to the future.

Her present wasted falling back to alter her past.

This couldn't be her.

It can't be.

And just like that it was.

Just like she said she never would;

She had fallen."

I closed my journal, seemingly hiding the words that would never face the view of another. I tucked my obnoxiously curly and red hair behind my ear, just as my mother would have done it - if she were here to see me in my depressed, drug infused waste of a life.

It's quite ironic when one imagines the words I hastily scrawled on the paper - that I, Aisling Woods, would write a poem describing the negative effects of drugs. That a druggy such as myself could even envision the long term effects of what I had done. But that's just the thing - I was vividly aware of what I'm doing to my body and what will happen. But the other thing was  - I didn't care.

So this was an extremely short chapter, I'm very sorry xD, but it was merely done to introduce the character, Aisling Woods, without giving away too much too soon. Thank you for reading, and hopefully you guys enjoy what I have in store for the days to come. Don't forget to vote if you enjoyed!
