Just When It Got Good...

As I walked with Austin, life seemed.. beautiful. My mind for one moment was preoccupied to a point where I could see the positivity.

It wouldn't last forever. It couldn't, and just like that the moment was interrupted by my phone. Almost rhythmically, my hand dipped into my pocket, pulling out my phone. My mouth dropped at the sight of the text.

Brad: Dropped by your house to give a little surprise. ;)

Austin must have taken note of the look upon my face, due to the questioning expression upon his face. I told him I had to leave, and that it was urgent. As his face formed a minor version of a frown, he replied, "It's perfectly fine! Do you mind if I ... uh," he paused, "get your number?"

My breath stopped for a moment. A part of it was the thought of having someone to go through this world with. The majority of it, however, was the thought of him leaving me.

I whispered a minor, "Sure. 209-215-4009" I forced a smile as I ran off before Austin could poke me with further questions.

At my house, I bursted through the door, only to see a figure I never hoped to see again.

Brad.

My body shivered at the smirk upon his face. I spat out the question, "what do you want?"

Brad stood up and made his way in front of me as he attempted to snake his arms around me. I leaned further away as he came in for kiss. I slapped his face running to the kitchen to hide. However, he caught me and pushed my body against the wall. I squirmed as he forced his tongue into my mouth, trying to bring back the relationship we once had. I kneed him in the crotch, running out the door of my house screaming to anyone for help. Brad rushed outside, covering my mouth to sedate my cries. Some who were not aware of the prior events might have viewed the following scene as romantic, Brad carrying me inside over his shoulder. Oh, but only if they knew the true agony of the situation.

Once inside, Brad threw me to the ground, repeatedly punching my body up and down. He screamed out,"DON'T YOU EVER RUN AWAY FROM ME."I could feel the heat of his breath and practically taste the alcohol from it as he made such a statement towards me. Tears stung at my cheeks as his fists fought against my bones, and I merely sat there and took the beating, seeing as I was not capable of escaping.

Just then a person walked in, and they were seemingly my savior.
