Play Me Like The Drums {Ashton Irwin/5SOS Fanfic}

This is my first 5SOS fanfic and I hope everyone likes it!

"Renna wake up! We cant be late for the plane!" My mother called from her room, right across from mine.

I ripped off my covers and stepped out of bed, shes right. I can't miss my flight to my new college. I slipped off my pjs and stepped into jeans and a plain black T-Shirt. Theres no need to dress fancy for a flight across the country, I'll change once I get to my dorm. A dorm. Just the thought of me living on my own in a door makes me excited and scared at the same time.

I slowly walked down the stairs because my legs where wobbling. I had a stomachache from the thought of later today I will be living on my own in college. With roommates, classes, and professors. I was so excited!

'Alright lets go, we can get some food on the plane and after the flight we can grab something." My mom said and I nodded. I didn't trust my voice so I just decided not to speak. I followed my mom to the car which would take me to the plane that would take me to the college that will change my life forever.

"This is your dorm?" My mom said, with a look of distaste on her face as we opened the door.

It just had plain white walls and it was fairly big, since it held four girls. This dorm wasn't full it was just me and two other girls. I'm guessing they are close friends because they share a bunk, the bottom one covered with posters of bands I didn't know. The top bunk had pictures taped to a wall, one was a tan girl with long hair with a boy with blonde hair and they where smiling. Another one was the same girl with what looked like her whole family. The last one was her with another girl, she was tall and had light brown hair and they where making silly faces.

I turned away from their bunk and walked over to mine. I decided to take the bottom one, it would be easier when I had to clean the sheets and I could set up an alarm clock, and my phone charger right there. I set my bags on the bed and noticed the one bathroom. One bathroom for three girls, that's gonna be a mess if we have classes all at the same time. Over in the corner there was a vanity section with a mirror and plugs. A place to do hair and makeup would be nice.

I turned back to my mom and gave her a smile. She returned the smile but then her eyes filled with tears.

"Mom, don't cry. I'll call you and get a job so I can have money to visit you.' I said and gave her a hug.

"I know. Just get a car soon so you won't have to rely on people and be safe honey. I don't want you to have a baby yet.' She joked and we both laughed.

"Goodbye mom." I said and we hugged again.

"Goodbye baby." She said and walked out the dorm room.

The dorm got quiet and I got to work. There was one closet and two dressers next to each bunk, so I got my own dresser. I filled it with my clothes and then out my sheets on my bed. After I finished I decided to tape the picture of me and my mom on the wall on the side of my bunk. Once I got more pictures of my and possibly new friends I would tape them. I got up and headed to the bathroom, might as well take a shower before the other girls got home.

After my shower I slipped on blue skinny jeans, a white tank top, and a striped brown sweater over my tanktop. I got in my bed and pulled out one of the books I packed and started reading. Not even ten minutes later, two girls walked into the room. They where the girls from the picture. The girl with the long dark hair, pulled into a ponytail this time came over and gave me a hug.

"Hi! Im Avalon, but call me Ava, and this is Kayla.'" She said and pointed to the girl with light brown hair.

"Hi." I said shyly and gave her a small wave.

Kayla smiled back and then went into the bathroom and I heard the shower turn on.

"I couldn't help but see your pictures. You and that blonde boy look happy, are you two friends?" I asked Ava and she smiled.

"That's Luke, and we are dating. Well have been for two years. Hes in a band with Michael, Kayla's boyfriend."

"That's cool. I've never met anyone in a band." I said trying to keep the conversation going.

"You should come to the party tonight! The band is going to be preforming there! Oh my gosh yes! It would be nice to meet them!" Ava said and jumped up and a big smile on her face.

Parties wern't really my things but Ava seemed so excited to take me and if these band guys are always going to be around I might as well get to know them before they just show up in the dorm one night.

"Is the band only Luke and Michael?" I asked and Ava laughed.

"No. There's Calum and Ashton too."

"Whats the band called?"

"Five Seconds of Summer. Or 5SOS."

"That's an interesting name." I said.

Just then Kayla came out the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her body as she walked to the closet and picked out jeans and a shirt. Ava picked out her clothes and went to the vanity section to change. Kayla came out first, in black skinny jeans and a white shirt that had was I'm guessing is the 5SOS bang logo. She had on black combat boots with the studs on the front and back. Ava came back out but wearing grey skinny jeans and the same shirt but in black, and she was wearing black vans instead of combat boots.

"Ready?" Kayla asked me.

"Yeah." I said. I looked underdressed next to them, just in blue skinny jeans, a sweater, and my Toms.

"Lets go!" Ava said and Kayla called driving.

Twenty minutes later we pulled into a parking lot to what looks like a club. Once we walked in and my eyes focused I saw all the strobe lights and the smoke in the air. The giant stereos hanging from the ceiling blared music and the dance floor was covered in a mass of people dancing. The stage was empy, the microphones and drum kit set up and waiting to be played. There was a table covered in food and drinks. I walked forward, trying not to loose Kayla and Ava. Someone handed me a red cup and I sniffed what was inside. It was clear and sour, vodka. I just set it on a nearby table and turned back to Ava and Kayla.

"Come on Renna! Lets meet the boys!" Kayla said with a grin.

I followed them down the mass of people dancing until they reached a black curtain and pulled it back. We walked down a long dark hallway until we heard laughing coming froma dimly lit room. All three of us walked in and I hid a bit behind Kayla, since she was so tall. I didn't like barging into someone's room, I never knew what they where doing.

"Ava!" Someone called and I saw it was the blonde boy from the picture, Luke.

He walked over and gave Ava a kiss.

"MIKEY!" Kayla called and a boy with platinum dyed hair cam out and Kayla ran into his arms. He picked her up and spun her and ended it with a kiss.

I stood awkwardly in the doorway, wanting to hide in my sweater.

Then a tan boy with black hair came unto the room from the side and gave Ava a hug.

"Cal! I haven't seen you guys in weeks!" Ava said and smiled at her friends. I think all of them have known each other for a while.

"Guys this is our new roommate Renna." Kayla said and introduced me.

"Hi guys.' I said and smiled at them, I said more confident that I felt.

"Hi!" They all chimed.

"Wheres Ashton?" Ava asked and called his name.

"Probably getting dressed, we go on stage in like ten minutes." Luke said.

"ASHTON HURRY THE HELL UP!" Calum yelled and they all laughed.

After five minutes of making small talk only when I needed too, they got called to go on stage. Just then a boy with curly blondish hair came out the side door, grabbed drumsticks, and walked out the entrance. He didn't say anything to anyone.

I followed Kayla and Ava to the dance floor as Calum, Luke, Michael, and Ashton took their places on the stage. Luke, Calum, and Michael took their places standing with microphones and Ashton was in the back with the drums. They started their performance, and to my surprise they where really good. I don't know what I was expecting but whatever I was they blew my expectations. I couldn't help but watch the was Ashton looked while he played the drums. He focused all his energy on hitting the drum with the stick and it was like a trance to me.

After they finished everyoen clapped and cheered. I turned around to talk to Ava and Kayla about the preformance but I couldn't find them. All the boys where off the stage and I decided to just go look for Ava and Kayla.

After searching for them for fifteen minutes I decided to go back through that black curtain and see if there where there. I walked through the black curtain and to the room that everyone else was in. I peeked in but no one was in there. I turned back around to leave and my face bumped right into the chest of someone.

"You arn't supposted to be in here." Said an angry voice.

I looked up to see who it was.

Ashton.
