A Promise To The Dead

Her outfit to the lacrosse game
I race my dad up the stairs and Braeden walks normally laughing at us. My dad and Braeden lie down on his bed and I go to my room and lie down in mine.
(Remember Lydia when she was screaming while kicking her sheets in Season 2 well think of that but instead it's Haliegh)
I hear the alarm go off, I thought it was just my dream and then I hear voices and they keep getting louder and louder and louder.
They say,"Derek,"over and over, louder and louder and louder, I scream just as another scream starts, but mine is louder and longer, I kick off all my blankets and I hear glass shatter, but the weird thing was I wasn't even awake.
Footsteps hit the stairs hard and suddenly I'm being shaken awake by Braeden and my dad.
"Haliegh what's wrong? Who's going to die?"
"You are dad and there's nothing we can do about it."
They are silent and sweat mixed with tears runs down my face.
Dad kisses my forehead and Braeden hugs me.
"If you need to talk we're downstairs come get us immediately I don't care if it's a stupid reason you come get us."
"Okay we love you goodnight."
Braeden is becoming like a mom to me and I like it.
*The next night*
"Happy birthday sweetheart,"my dad says.

I go out with dad and Braeden.
"We're going to have some fun since it's your birthday, anything you want to fo Haliegh."
"I want someone to buy me a gun and teach me how to shoot."
"Okay, but you've claws, fangs, and a skull shattering voice. Why do you want to learn how to shoot?"
"I don't know, I just want to learn."
"Okay let's go pick you out a gun."
I pick out the gun that looks exactly like Braeden's rifle.
"Nice choice. Let's go to the shooting range."
We go to the range and I outshoot my dad easily after I get the hang of it, but I can't beat Braeden.
"Ha I can beat you at one thing Haliegh Grace and that's shooting."
The words that were lining the interior of the range all changed to 'Time of Death' or 'Promise to the Dead'.
"Haliegh are you okay."
"Yeah I'm fine,"I say chambering another round.
After three and a half hours of shooting my dad asks,"You two ready to go eat."
(No we're all going, we're going to church -Kate. Take me to church...... Song reference right there...)
"Yeah."
We go out to eat and have the best time ever.
*next day at the lacrosse game*
Liam runs to me with a bag before the game starts and says,"Happy birthday, Haliegh Hay, Lydia helped me pick out the shoes and dress, but I picked out the purse because I knew you liked Chanel."
"Liam I love it, thanks."
"I'm glad you like it." He kisses my cheek and I start giving him a  peptalk,"Good luck, I love you, kick their asses and don't worry about Scott I'm sure they're fine."
"Thanks Haliegh."
To Scott🐾😎-Are you okay? Worried about you and Kira.
I walk down from the stands after Devenford scores and I ask Coach,"Hey Coach do you need a another player."
"That would be amazing, take this and put it on, and these are  Greenberg's shoes,"he says handing me a helmet, gloves, shoulder and knee pads, a jersey, a stick, and air Jordan shoes.
I run back to Mason.
"Woah why the hell are you stripping."
"I'm going to play."
"Have you ever played before?"
"Once but I have amazing reflexes."
"Good luck I'll keep your stuff safe. What number are you?"
"Uh 17."
"I'll cheer for you."
"Thanks."
"You ready Hale."
"Yeah Coach."
"This is the play, if you get the ball you shoot."
"Got it."
He puts me in and I tackle one of the players.
"Liam for the love of god move!"
I block players, for Liam, but he gets tackled by Brett.
"Who's number 17,"I hear someone say.
"I don't know."
Our team lost, but Coach congratulates me for blocking all of the opposing team's players and attempting to help the team.
"You were good out there for your first time playing, Haliegh."
"Thanks Coach."
Mason hands me my clothes and I change back into them.

I find the motorcycle I hid in the woods a couple of days ago and drive home.
The alarm goes off and I almost get shot by the sheriff, my dad, and Braeden.
"Woah!"
"Sorry Haliegh Grace."
"I took your spot at the game, Stiles and uh we lost. Peter showed up and was talking to Malia he said something like he found her mother. And he is sure this is her mother."
