Omniscient P.o.V.

It is Monday morning and everyone's getting ready to attend Chadston High for the school year. Chris is going to drive there in his new car and so far his morning has been great. His mom seems happy and he liked that. He also got a call that he could start work promptly. Brooke's mom is dressing her up like usual. She gathered her school supplies, ate breakfast , and got her mom to drop her off to school. Ka'Cee is hasn't slept in the past two days because she knew Johnothan was bad news and she still was in on the plan. She is riding the bus on the way to school. Daisya is dressing herself. She put loads of makeup onto her face to make sure she was 'flawless'. Her parents really didn't care what she wore. She put on things that she thought Chris would like. She really wanted to get his attention and get a chance with him. She wasn't going to stop until she had him. She just knew they would be together.

Brooke's P.o.V.

I don't know why but I'm nervous. Woohoo. I can't believe Christopher is having this effect on me. He's my age and he seemed a little shy. Why Brooke? Why? Ever since we hugged I wanted to smell that smell of his. I wanted to feel his touch. I know . I know. We just met two days ago. I can't control what I'm feeling. If I could I doubt that I would even feel different. Lets just see where today leads us.

"Brooke, honey, we're here!"

Oh great. School again. For some odd reason my heart was pounding out of my chest and my hands were shaking.

"Well, bye mom. See ya later."I said as I was about to get out of our car, opening the door.

"Bye? You didn't even ask about the box."

"Box?" I said closing the door back.

"Yes , the box. Open it ! Open it!" she said with a big grin on her face. I could have sworn I saw all her teeth. I opened the box and there it was. Something that I dreamed of and wished for my whole life. A phone. I couldn't believe my eyes. My mom always told me that I needed to be old enough to handle one and be responsible with it and until I was, no phone for me. Everyone in my grade that I could think of had a cell phone since middle school. I couldn't believe I was getting this priveledge. It would change everything. She must have changed her opinion.

"Thank you so much mom," I said squeezing her.

"It's already activated and now you can talk to boys Brooke." she said with a laugh. Wait. A. Second. She must be going through her mid life crisis. She is giving me permission to talk to males. Boys. The opposite sex.. I never thought it would come to this. Is this the reason she keeps dressing me up? Is this the reason I can never wear anything comfortable? If grandchildren is what she wants she's going to have to wait. This woman is crazy. Don't get me wrong, I like boys, Chris. I really like boys. Chris. I just needed to go do something to take my mind off of this. Chris. It seems like I need to find Chris and talk to him before I go absolutely insane in this Camry.

"Thanks mom. I'll text you," I said with a grateful, but sort of fake smile on my face. I was already feeling uncomfortable as I got out of the car. She had me wearing a white tank top tucked into my oversized cuffed jeans with a Louis Vittian belt, a messenger bag, my hair flatironed down my back with a headband that matched my oxford shoes and a gold chain with matching hoops. I was getting stares from all over the place. Did anyone even recognize me anymore? I wasn't the fat girl I was last year. When I looked in the mirror I saw a whole different person. She was pretty, beautiful in fact. I didn't think of myself that way before.

"Is that the girl that was kinda big last year?" I heard someone say from behind me.

"Nah, that's not Brooke. She's too fine." I appreciated the compliment but it was also an insult. I am the same girl so I turned around and spoke my mind and when I did, I heard a voice I didn't recognize. It sounded like my mom instead of my dad.

"Hi, I couldn't help but here you talking about me, word of advice, don't" I had attitude and sass in my voice until I heard someone behind me.

"Is that the girl I met at the park a couple of days ago? I can't tell. She's kind of fiesty. Must not be her I'll just leave" I turned around to see Chris. He was so, so... everything. He wore a white polo with a red logo, dark jeans, a cross chain, and some Jordans with his bookbag slung over his arm.. I was beginning to think that's all he wore. He looked at me like he was dumbstruck. I couldn't help but laugh.

Chris's P.o.V.

"There's the Giggles I know." I have to admit , she was looking fly. I couldn't help but gaze at her. I think that's why she was laughing in the first place. She just looked at me and gave me a big smile. She was as far as I knew.

"Hello, my name is Brooke and I'll be your tour guide for today." I decided to play along.

" Hi, my name is Chris and I'll be the person you're guiding around this lovely school."

She let out a laugh. " Come on Brooke, I thought we were supposed to be keeping straight faces," When I said that she turned her face all kinds of ways which made me laugh.

"Grin and Chuckle Chris."

"Huh?" I didn't realize what she meant.

" SInce you say I laugh a lot and my name should be Giggles, since you grin and chuckle a lot your name should be Grin and Chuckle Chris. Ring to it?"

"It certainly has one, but..."

"But what?"

"I'm fine with the name Chris and you are just fine with the name Brooke. It suits you." I couldn't help but smile at her . She led me to the cafeteria, library, gym, and the classes that I would be taking. I cannot believe this is happening. We were really early to school so I went almost everywhere. We sat down on the bench so I decided to talk.

" So, Brooke can I ask you something?

" Yeah, sure. What is it?"

"Do you think we could be , well friends ?"

She giggled once more and that alone reassured me that it would be a yes. " Why not. Sometimes it seems like you're lost in your own world. Did we not just walk around this whole campus together laughing and joking? Even though we just met two days ago friendships take time to build. I would like to be your friend Chris, if that's okay with you if you haven't changed your mind because of my rambling."

She seemed to brighten up my day. Everything looked more vivid and she was the center of it all." I haven't changed it," I said as I gave her a hug. The bell rang for us to get to class. I went to the office first to get my schedule because the councelor wasn't there earlier. Returning to one of the classes I passed up I saw Brooke with someone else who didn't know their way around. It happened to be a really tall guy that I recognized from somewhere. Where? That's what I couldn't remember.
